What the heck, FF?!? My last tomato of the season was a small green thing that I put on a shelf and forgot. After a month, maybe six weeks, it oh so gradually started to turn red. It blushed and softened like a tomato on the vine, until it's turned completely red. Is that normal? IS THIS A ZOMBIE TOMATO?
We often listen to oldies at work, and I find myself really listening for the first time to songs I've known since childhood. Most of them are really disturbing. My favorite "Whoa, that is wrong!" discovery this month is "Big Girls Don't Cry." The poor girl's ex is egotistical and possibly a stalker, and her mother is just plain evil.
I used brown sugar, browned butter, and fresh cream. Incredible depth of flavor. The only problem is deciding what to put it on, because eating it plain always leads to me feeling sick but still wanting to eat more :P

I hate Facebook. I always hated the company, but now I hate the content. No one's traveling to cool countries anymore, just talking about their careers, having babies... every time I go there, it's like reading Death of a Salesman 14 times in five minutes. Ugh.
I need to go to work, but it's TOO COLD to get out of bed. I need a suit made out of this down comforter. WTF SEPTEMBER?!? This is going to be a long winter :(
Don't blame this on Winter. This is fucking Fall :(
- Eivind
No, THIS is fall. It got really nice again. It's surreal, walking in 78F sunshine looking at the leaves falling, but I like it! I've also started baking pumpkin pies which seems weird and wrong. Too soon!

Finally, a comic strip of my life! This happens almost every evening, anytime I am packing half-sheet bars. Plastic wrap is my enemy. - http://macromeme.com/dog...
Is there a polite way to tell someone you want to end your friendship? It's not that you're angry about something particular, but you don't want to spend time with or have this person in your life, and quietly ignoring was too subtle a strategy.
I'm in this situation with more than one friend, and I don't want to cause drama, but nor do I want their continued negativity in my life. We're just not a good match.

IME, confrontation is seldom constructive. i just stop calling and stop involving them in my life. if they try to initiate something, i consistently beg off. they get the idea eventually.
- Big Joe Silenced
That's what I figured. This one chick literally said "Not good enough! I want you!" when I declined to attend her party. And my old college roommate contacted me with a snarky comment when she heard I got married. I thought months of religiously ignoring both of them had done the trick, but... *sigh* Thanks Big S

Having my lover out of town has been a great growing experience, forcing me to take time alone, connect more with friends, read books... until now. I WOULD LIKE SOME CUDDLES NOW. One week to go.
My eye hurts, not the eyeball itself around the outside edge. It hurts to blink and is very sensitive to pressure. I woke up like this; kinda feels like someone punched me in my sleep. Not that I'd know what that feels like. This is the third time this has happened, does anyone have any idea what's up with this?
I'm not really worried, since nothing bad came of it when this happened before, but now I'm getting really curious as to WTF leads to early morning eye pain, since I'm pretty sure I was not punched in my sleep. It usually lasts a few days. Hm.

Driving Around New York City - 1928 - This is hilarious! Somehow driving like a maniac is way funnier at old film speed. - http://www.youtube.com/watch...
I'm digging the Google logo today! I'd never heard of Calder, but saw some of his mobiles in DC last month and found them mesmerizing. I think I watched one for a half hour.
I saw it in the theater (an empty theater), and I bought the DVD the day it came out. I couldn't wait for it to make it to the $5 discount bin a week later. <-- True story.

i saw it 5 times in a row on a flight from Japan and really liked it. it's the only Will Ferrell movie i can say that about.
- Big Joe Silenced
I love you so much now! We are two of three fans in the entire world. I am amazed how well it holds up to repeat viewings (though even I haven't watched it 5 times in a row!). I think it's time to buy a new copy of the DVD (asshole roommates stole it) - I've had it from Netflix for weeks; keep watching it.

Do anybody no a tasty dessert recipe that is not diet-crushing, for a dear friend who is sugar/fat overloaded after my wedding? It's her birthday, and I don't know any healthy stuff that tastes good because THAT'S NOT HOW I ROLL, MAN.
Fresh fruit layered with lightly sweetened whipped cream, and then frozen, is really nice for the summer. Also, not too heavy. If you're feeling fancy, you can add layers of angel food cake chunks as well.
- Jennifer Dittrich
Holy crap, Cecily, that sounds good. I ended up making smoothie cupcakes, which were tasty if oddly textured. But I want to make that for ME!

The cake features nude dolls styled to look like us (doesn't my husband have nice breasts!). We are ordered by our friends to cut it together & feed it to one another. Then I help my best friend/co-worker/minister cut the rest, because we're swingers like that.
Here's our dudeist wedding "ceremony" (see: dudeism.com). My spontaneously deputized bridesmaid did a great job, and he looked lovely. My dear old dad came up from Florida to be a witness! Our minister wore jelly shoes, faithful to the dudeist tradition.
Left my camera at my friend (and minister)'s house last night, but hopefully there will be pics/video in the next couple days. The video of the entire ceremony is 3 minutes, 19 seconds long!
The reason for the last-minute wedding was so I can still have health insurance. It had to be done before the end of the fiscal year :-P For the record, it is BULLSHIT that gay people can't do this, and we mentioned that in the ceremony.
We've got the license, and the witnesses (my dad flew up!). My best friend in town got ordained as a dudeist priest so she can marry this. Yes, I did plan my wedding in one week :-D
I got that supervisor job unexpectedly last night & turned it down. Then tonight I took it after all, and negotiated an almost 20% raise. This is... really out of character, but possibly cool.
So a lot has been going on with me lately, and I am finally prepared to talk about it, but it's a bit sensitive to put publicly on the internet. I have posted a summary to Lo's TMI Zone (http://friendfeed.com/los-tmi), so if you're interested and not in that room, drop me a DM or request an invite and I'll add you. Hope you all have an awesome day!
Yup, thanks, I'm doing all right. Somewhere in my tumultuous 20s I developed the ability to not completely stop functioning when trouble happens :-P

Lately it has dawned on me that I was this incredibly awesome, though odd, person when I was a little kid. And the process of "growing up" for me was abandoning myself and trying to be this other thing that was expected. I grieved that loss, then tried to forget it. But it seems this buried part of me never died, just hid, and ever so gradually...
... I am turning back into myself. Recently I read "have the guts to act worthy of yourself," and I decided to have the guts to be worthy of my four-year-old self. Because damn, she was cool. (I wish I had a picture to insert here!)

Lo, that is wonderful! I had a similar revelation a while ago.
- WoH: Professor MOTHRA
I still vividly remember the first time I hated myself, when I was so small. Lately I just keep mentally hugging that little girl and saying "Fuck the haters! They're just jealous!" :P
