This morning I looked at a shabby 4plex near my current neighborhood. Only the outside. The grounds are pretty filthy, there are kids toys outside the 3 occupied units, and this tells me the current tenants probably aren't great neighbors.

Then I checked out a 100+ unit complex in West Oakland that's new & clean. A uniformed woman was cleaning up the sidewalk outside & I stopped to talk with her, ask her her impression of the property & neighbors. - Starmama

Left a msg at the leasing office for the W Oakland one. I haven't lived in anything larger than a 4plex since the 80s. But I've also never lived anywhere newer than a maybe 30 year old building. These are less than 8 years old, and supposedly built green. - Starmama

Fucked up how even though my income doesn't change, my portion of my subsidized rent goes up by about $20 -$30 EVERY YEAR. When I was talking to the realtor working with the owner to sell the property, she was surprised at the amount of rent I pay. She said all the tenants with section 8 that she'd worked with pay about $100.

It's not just the loud, impressive Blue Angels jets swooping overhead, but also smaller stunt planes too, some of them shiny bright colors. Fleet Week is the only time living this close to an airport is almost awesome.

For sale sign now up on property. Talked with realtor to let her know my situation. If the property sells quickly there may be more time before we have to move. Problem is, it was listed over a year last time. Unattractive property in bad neighborhood with high price ain't too popular.
