I’m a procrastinator, a sewist, a dabbler, a reader, a baker, an over planner, a mama to many furry kids and I regularly play with fire.
Tonight dinner was not very New Year's friendly...hash browns, sausage and a fried egg..unless you count that I used what we had on hand :-)
Decisions, decisions. I went to the quilt shop and it will take about $80 to quilt the top in an all over pattern (one thread color) and 2-3 times that for custom work. I can quilt it, but that is so not my forte. It seems I've hamstrung myself a bit by using so many colors and white. Harumph!
Why not just have them do it in white thread? - LB ❤s FF, esp. YOU
Bright purple. I think there are color changing threads, too, so you could do it in something that won't match but won't be static. http://www.superiorthreads.com/product... - Spidra Webster
Finished my quilt top...whoohoo! I think I might go to the quilt shop tomorrow and see just how horrible it would be to have it professionally machine quilted. I made it to make me happy when I'm sick or tired or just want something cuddly, and I really want it to last. I screwed it up when I was cutting the stripe so this
Wasn't the originally intended pattern, but I like it. - Shannon - GlassMistress
Gorgeous! - Jenica
Truck AC has zero coolant. They will recharge the system and add dye and I'll go back in a week or two. As for the tires, the dude is appalled at their condition.
I wondering if I should break out the credit card? - Shannon - GlassMistress
Oh I know, I was just hoping I could do two today and two more in a couple months. The outside tread is good but the inside is gone (but not down to metal) - Shannon - GlassMistress
Whelp, off to the car fix it place for two tires (can't quite afford four) and to have the AC checked. Can I get you anything while I'm out?
My bro went.. Ahem.. Camping over the holidays, he sent me a photo collage. If only we were all so lucky :-)
Resolutions? I made two: be kind to myself and be positive. How about you?
Try not to assume the worst in scary situations. - Tamara J. B.
That's a really tough one Tam, but admirable and I know you have the metal to do it! - Shannon - GlassMistress
No Cristo, we don't. But it's the trying that makes us better. - Shannon - GlassMistress
Four days off! Dig in and bust out some projects or lazy up?
If digging in and busting out some projects will free up time later, it might be worth it to do some of that. If you're just going to fill that future space with more projects, and you don't have any vital deadlines, lazy up instead. - COMPLICATED MR. NOODLE
Remember my glass fish sculpture with the grumpy fish? Well I made it for a gallery show and while it was in the show a friend asked if he could buy it. I told him sure but he'd either have to go buy it from the gallery or wait until the show was over. He elected to way saying he wanted me to have the full amount rather than share with the...
...gallery (aw!). A day or two later his wife sent me a message via FB asking the same question - she wanted it as his Christmas present. So we agreed that I'd tell her hubby it had sold and I'd make him another (but I'd drag my feet on the making). I secreted the piece to their house during a holiday party and she said she'd get me a check. A day or two after Christmas I received a check FROM HIM, on his business account. I wrote him a thank-you and that I hoped he loved it. Here's how he replied: - Shannon - GlassMistress
Hehe. It wont be too bad really. The turkey legs will come already smoked, I'll just wrap them individually and heat them on site. I can do shepard's pie ahead of time and freeze it. The cake will be a pain mostly b/c I'm not off the day of the party. As for the second gathering, at least its on Sunday so I have Saturday to prep. Besides, its extra money, not much, but every little bit, ya know? Which is really what made it difficult to say no. - Shannon - GlassMistress
Confession: The tires on my truck are verging on dangerous but this 47 year old female is prolly gonna fix the A/C first :-D
Turned my back for a second and MAN started our paver project. He's cutting the 'step out' off of the patio, eeep!
Do as I Will Day Two. Truck clean(er), new wipers and cabin filter installed. Gonna go fix a board on the neighbor's fence with my nifty new Dewalt screwdriver, then I'm off to get the right air filter for my truck, pillowcases and hangers, and some fabric and batting. Imma finish that quilt top today..WOOT!
Ok, so maybe I I won't finish my quilt top...sidetracked myself with a bookshelf for the bedroom :-) - Shannon - GlassMistress
Do nothing day resulted in several movies watched, 3/4 of a quilt top finished and will culminate with cottage pie (yum!)
Reset two whole rows of parts (a little over 1000 items) ... whew!
PSA: If you are off work today don't send a 'don't work too hard' text to someone that is .. it makes them stabbity
Hi ho hi ho ... Off to work and feeling irked that I'm the only person there that has to (also trying to remind myself to be happy I have a job). Whatchu up to today?
we're just off for a walk to the shop. Blow away some cobwebs. - Heleninstitches #teamff
I'm about to go to bed, but I ate, played with my Christmas presents (ie put them all away and set up my new desk things), and napped :oD Hoping to put my Skin Kandy voucher to good use in the morning if Josh is feeling up to watching the kids. - Melly #FForever
Still working on (quickly) getting over this cold. (What might have been vacation days off due to being sick just happened to fall on company holidays.) Trying to decide whether or not I can be well enough to have dinner with friends. - Julian
I might be eating a cookie for dinner since everything else requires cooking.
Still at work, alone, counting all the things. Little, little things
Oh my. Uh... maybe count with a 'one thingy dingy, two thingy dingy' with the nasally voice? That might at least make you giggle some. - t-ra: sentimental gorgon
^this! - Corinne L
Edith Anne, Edith Ann! - SAM
Have arrived at the almost end of the blue boxes (two stacks left - fuses and dowels - but they will wait). Started at 8am - whew! Payroll is done. All that's left is to balance what I counted in the computer and then "Outta here!" And that's the truth, pffffft! :-) - Shannon - GlassMistress
I suppose a pity party on Christmas Eve is bad form, huh?
Not at all! I'll play. - t-ra: sentimental gorgon
We could call it a late Festivus airing of grievances instead. - Corinne L
AC died on my truck. Ah well, at least it's not July.
battery life or motor? - obe
Dunno yet. I had a collision with a renegade paint can today on the interstate. I suspect damage from that but haven't been under it yet. - Shannon - GlassMistress
Staying late at work again. Bust out the Christmas music or the Chair Boogie music?
Chair boogie, of course! - Tamara J. B.

Ocular migraine #2 just started ... argh!
Weird! I've had one in my left eye for 5 days now. - Yolanda
Mine last about 30 minutes, but I rarely have two in a day. It really needs to mosey on ... I've got thing to do where being able to see would be mighty helpful :-) - Shannon - GlassMistress
yuck! The one time I had one of those was immediately before seeing the eye doc, and he said Excedrin Extra Strength (with caffeine) should stop it in its tracks if you take it at first pinprick. - RudĩϐЯaЯïan
I found the experience very disorienting and scary! I hope yours pass quickly. - RudĩϐЯaЯïan
Dear ocular migraine, while I do appreciate that you don't hurt, I really need to see right now!!
Watching Cat Ballou. Wishing I could watch the Dutchess and the Dirtwater Fox next :-)
Step mom went out for some last minute shopping so I hauled over to their house and snapped a few more photos oh the pup. Much better this time, but this dog will not look at the camera, grr. I'd have liked one good head on shot. Ah well. Here goes, pick three please.
4 and 5 ears up alert - WarLord
Gosh darn dog alarm! Ah well, I guess I'll clean something and get a jump on this day. Good morning!
I snuck outside with my step-mom's dog today and tried to take her photo as a xmas gift. Every time I plopped down in the grass with her she'd try to get in my lap resulting plenty of odd shots. The frame I have has 3 parts. I think if I'd gotten one 'face on' photo I could used what I have but I'm not sure these work. What do you think?
I love the third one, very sweet. - Heather
T-ra speaks truth. - LB ❤s FF, esp. YOU
Have bypassed Cranky Pants and gone straight to Bithy Britches. You've been warned.
Liking for the term, not the mood. - LB ❤s FF, esp. YOU
Unexpected 1K car repair ... so. damn. tired. of the mini cooper.
Same. Ours is $600 that we shouldn't even have to pay. I'm pretty sure we've paid more this year on the MINI than it's actually worth. - Anika
Us too. The monthly expense is verging on a car payment, not that we can afford to do that either. HoHoHo - Shannon - GlassMistress
Photograph of Gene Wilder and Gilda Radner popped up in my FB feed ... made me happy and sad all at once.
