I'd assume it depends on whether smoking was done for just cooking purposes or curing. Smoked salmon definitely lasts longer than regularly cooked in the fridge, smoked chicken seems to last as long as other cooked chicken, anecdotally. - Jennifer Dittrich

The funny part for me is that (at least the quote) sounds a lot like older restaurant critique, but addressing the much larger stage that the culinary culture has now.
