Eric - Final Countdown

Eric Beehler is too busy to be here but can't stay away.
Transgender girl crowned homecoming princess - http://www.denverpost.com/englewo...
"Scarlett Lenh received the majority of the votes from her junior class at Sand Creek High School, besting three biological girls for the honor. Lenh, biologically a boy, was born Andy Lenh. She was bestowed the honor during Friday night's football game. The 16-year-old began identifying as a transgender girl this school year and began using the girls' bathroom. She said she's known she was a girl since about age 7 or 8. "It was really exciting. It felt really good. I couldn't stop smiling," Scarlett said after she found out at an afternoon assembly that the majority of the junior class had voted for her. Two of the other girls who were nominated by their peers were "extremely supportive," Scarlett said, and the other "was really upset."" - Eric - Final Countdown
Dropping the needle: the life and death of Turntable.fm - http://www.theverge.com/2013...
"Tonight at 10PM EST, the virtual DJs at Turntable.fm will be escorted off the stage for the last time. Two and a half years after founders Billy Chasen and Seth Goldstein captivated music fans with their highly interactive approach to internet radio, they are shutting the service down to conserve their remaining venture capital and focus on a spinoff. Fans have used Turntable to create 1 million virtual DJ rooms and play more than 400 million songs — but it hasn’t made for much of a business. "The cost of running a music service has been too expensive," the founders wrote on their blog, "and we can’t outpace it with our efforts to monetize it and cut costs."" - Eric @ CS Techcast
*bump* for the memories - CAJ was here
After trying to recreate the Friendfeed experience in other social networks, I've realized it's going to be very hard to do. Facebook is slow and clogs up with notifications. It's designed for a slower pace. Google Plus doesn't scale out to multiple interests of a similar group. Again, notifications are an issue there. Twitter is fast but public.

My Dream Cast For A Star Trek The Next Generation Reboot - http://www.themarysue.com/star-tr...
"Let me make something clear - I love Star Trek: The Next Generation. It's my favorite Trek. Now...try not to hate me as I recast the series with new actors. I realize recasting and rebooting beloved properties is usually a big no-no to fans (myself included), but Hollywood being what it is, these kinds of things are bound to happen. You may remember seeing red when we posted our 10 Worst Case Casting Scenarios. In this case, I'd say prepare to see stars. While I made an attempt to cast actors I feel would legitimately do justice to the roles, I understand Trek is sacred. Keep an open mind and boldly go where you totally want to go - through the cast list!" - Eric @ CS Techcast
Wow. I could actually get behind all of this. A lot of excellent choices. :) Although...I will have to fight someone on Guinan. I love Wanda Sykes but I don't know if she has the ability to bring it down all the notches that Whoopi did for the part. I remember being so irritated that they were bringing her in as a cast member, but then I really learned to just love her, even if she did sort of end up as a plot convenience sometimes. :) Now someone show me an alternative for Pulaski. That's a character I REALLY enjoyed and by the end of the season I was kind of sad to have her leave and Dr Crusher return. lol - Hookuh Tinypants
