I just ironed the pleats back into my linen skirt. I think this means I'm officially a southern lady. In related news: countless genteel southern ladies just rolled over in their graves.
My grandmother would be so proud! - Trish R
Do anybody no why the clothes you wear in hot weather are are the ones that need the most ironing? - m9m, Crone of FriendFeed
This is one of the hottest, dampest summers I can remember. For the first time in my adult life I'm getting mildew on my walls even though we have AC (it's a common phenomenon in the south in houses without it). I'm sitting in my 72 degree house in shorts and a tee shirt and I'm burning up b/c it's oppressively humid in here.
:( Yuck. - Jenny
It's starting to get muggy here with the coming of the monsoon season. Yesterday was nasty. :( - Jenny
Phone call from Dave & our departure has been postponed, he won't be home until 3:30. Oh, and he needed a shirt washed. I know he's had more than his fair share of back problems but he's capable of taking a load of laundry down the stairs. I think he just doesn't want to face the li'l spiders that live over the washer... Fraidy cat!
To celebrate my new job Dave and I are going to Asheville tonight to watch some roller derby. Bout starts at 7, we're going to eat before, and it's 1.5 hours away, so we'll probably leave around 3. Guess that means I need to get off my rump and do something productive like pack a bag. - http://www.blueridgerollergirls.com/
BRRG are playing a team from Austin, TX, the birthplace of modern roller derby. Needless to say I'm kinda thinkin' Texas could blow them out of the water. - FFing Enigma
My friend is Angel(a). She goes by both. I don't know her derby name. She's a blond with curly hair. - Anika
Echo exited her box and started quacking incessantly. She thought she wanted outside but mother knows best and that is one rain hating cat. After filling her water dish and sharing a lunch of bbq, cole slaw, and herbed rice and corn Echo has contentedly returned to the cardboard box to clean up and take a nap. That cat knows how to live.
I am having a wonderfully lazy Saturday morning drinking coffee, cruising the tubes, and watching a guilty pleasure movie ('27 dresses' if you care). Except they just mentioned a breakfast burrito and now I want one. Sadly, I do not have one and I don't think the craving is worth getting dressed and heading out in the rain.
While I may not have a breakfast burrito in the house, I do have leftover barbecue. It might in fact work as a passable substitute. - FFing Enigma
this is why we need minions - Gunneh-MoTo Calls me that
You have a minion! Unfortunately cats make poor minions. - FFing Enigma
Irk and irksome are some of the best words in the English language.
Do not irk Tina when she is gruntled. - Easter LAMB
That's why I spell my job "wirk". - m9m, Crone of FriendFeed
The team's data projector came in an excellent box. According to the cats, that is. Echo has been living in it for several days. Just now she got out of it, trotted to the water bowl for a drink, and then hopped back into the box to take a bath.
Summer cat is mewling pitifully: she wants to go outside and it's raining. I'm sorry kitteh cat, but I cannot control the weather to better fit your daily plans.
Microwaveable Divided Storage Plate Set with Lids - Microwave - HomeMarketplace http://www.thehomemarketplace.com/HomeMar...
It ate my original comment... These are my other option, 11.99 for a set of 4. They're about the same price as the Corelle but they have lids which would make transport easier. - FFing Enigma
Rubbermaid Premier is my personal fav. Can transport soup on a bike and won't turn colors if you store curry or tomato sauce in it. - Wirehead
CORELLE® Livingware™ Winter Frost White 10-1/4' Divided Dinner Plate - Shop World Kitchen - http://www.shopworldkitchen.com/index...
Imma get some of these some day! They'll be perfect for taking my lunch to work and they match my every day dishes (which are also white Corelle). - FFing Enigma
Depends on what I'm eating. If it's spaghetti then noodles and sauce goes in the big part (starch, veggie, and meat all at once!), garlic bread goes in one small one, and then a salad if I can arrange one goes in the other small one. - FFing Enigma
Alright you crazy kids, it's brainstorming time! What do you bring with you the first day on a new job? Your favorite pen? Lunch? A box with all your momentos? Your own chair? I start Monday and it's been a while since I've had to pack for the "first day of work", so leave your suggestions in the comments!
Mug, tea, sweater, hand lotion, and one pretty picture. The rest trickles in as needed. - Kirsten
Passport or Soc card and Drivers license - Dario Gomez
Echo knocks something off and end table and looks behind her like she's offended the item in question had the audicity to make noise when it hit the floor.
Now she's quacking at me and I don't know if it's because she wants me to pet her, feed her chicken, or let her outside. - FFing Enigma
Exactly what I do as well. [okay, not the quacking part] - Jim #teamFFrank
StrayTats.com custom temporary tattoos. - http://straytats.com/
"You can upload your own designs or select a template from our gallery to make a custom temporary tattoo. Any size, any number, even just one! Use it for parties, sports events, or just for fun! And remember, a StrayTat is the perfect way to try out a tattoo design that you are thinking about getting permanently. Don't get stuck with a permanent tattoo and then decide you don't like it. Give it a test run as a custom temporary tattoo first!" - FFing Enigma
Couple of derby dames are thinking of getting a really BIG temporary tattoo to wear for bouts. I think it might be cool to try getting my numbers as a temporary tattoo so I don't have to write them on with sharpie... - FFing Enigma
That is cool. I don't think i could ever get a permanent tatt but I might like something nerdy temporary just for a lark. - Lindsay
Have returned from today's adventure, just barely missing Dave as he headed to his meeting. Struck gold om the Goodwill clearance racks, scoring 8 shirts and a blazer for $8.
Mail has finally arrived. Now to proceed with the rest of today's plan: go to the drug store, go to the bank, see if I can find 3-5 shirts that fit on clearance, go to the grocery store, and of course come home to impatiently wait for pizza time. PIZZA!!!
and possibly gelato... - Gunneh-MoTo Calls me that
Yes he is Gunny. His loss I say! MDV I need a quantity of 3-5 shirts, not shirts sized 3-5. Even at my scrawniest I will always have size 8 shoulders. - FFing Enigma
Mangos (mangoes?) are BOGO this week at Publix. Looks like imma have to eat a mango. Or two.
Oh, I just remembered, I have mangoes in the refrigerator. I found them last night. - OCoG of FF, Jimminy
Dear Mail Lady: you can do your drive by any time now mkay?
I keep trying to take some pictures for #thighmeme but I wind up looking like Bonnie Blair's lovechild, so this previously posted pic is the best you're gonna get right now - http://m.friendfeed-media.com/007bf81...
It'll do... - MoTO Boychick Devil
Today's exciting plan: wait for the mail, deposit my last unemployment check, go to the drug store to get something for this crater on my foot, scavenge for lunch, go to the grocery store, see if I can find 3-5 business casual shirts that fit on the cheap, and come home to impatiently wait for pizza time. PIZZZZZZZAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! =D
Seriously, I've been craving pizza for the better part of a week now. Gunny must be psychic to have invited me to eat pizza with them tonight. PIZZZAAAAAAAAAA!!!! - FFing Enigma
Gunny is indeed psychic. - Josh Haley
Moleskin is your friend. - Wirehead
The mail can run *any* time now, I'm still stuck in step one of today's plan!! - FFing Enigma
Sitting at home, drinking coffee, and not looking for a job =D I must point out that as relaxing as that all sounds looking for a job took up a fair amount of my time so now I'm sitting here twiddling my thumbs getting kinda bored. Hrm.
Time to start drinking full-time - Alex Scrivener
I have a hard time drinking at 9:30 in the morning, usually doesn't sit well. I might head out to the bookstore to find a new book or two to help with some of my new-to-me job duties... - FFing Enigma
Except I don't know how to ride it, which means my 2.75 joy ride will likely cost a grand or more in repair costs... - FFing Enigma
Funkle Sam is one of the best band names I've heard in a while.
Dave squishing Gunny's head via projector.
I SQUISH YO HEAD!! - FFing Enigma
OW no wonder I haz headache. I thought Dave liked me. - Gunneh-MoTo Calls me that
He's just sad I hang out with you and Carol while he gets all Masonic. His loss! - FFing Enigma
DO ANYBODY NO WHY DAVE WANTS TO LAY BRICKS TOMORROW NIGHT? - Gunneh-MoTo Calls me that
I'm FriendFeeding on a projector. You wish you could be this cool =)
Dave and I are testing the team's new data projector that arrived today. So far, it's hella bright. - FFing Enigma
I will be at practice tonight but I don't know how much I'm going to skate due to the hole in my foot. Yeah, I know you didn't want to know that. I didn't want a hole in my foot either, but we don't always get what we want.
Alright, paperwork for the job is done. My title is currently unknown but the VP I report to promises to come up with something cool =) Pay is less than my last job but slightly more than I wrote on the original application. OTOH I won't have to pay for parking, it's half the distance to my house, and there's possibly a free phone in the mix.
woohoo! - Friar Will
WOOHOO! - Alix May
So what cigar is Dave going to smoke in celebration? - Scoble, Alex Scoble
Oh, and I start Monday morning. Must practice getting up at a consistently normal time now... Alex, I dunno about the cigar. We are however going to watch a roller derby bout Saturday in celebration =) - FFing Enigma
Decided to wear some nice khakis to go sign my papers since it's a business casual office. Have also decided to delay said paper signing gratification until 2:30 so that the VP I'll be working under will be available to talk about the position. Plus it means I get to treat myself at lunch at Jack In The Box beforehand...
... because I got a coupon in the mail for a free milkshake with purchase. Can't turn down a free milkshake in July!! - FFing Enigma
I made a point of signing my papers for my current job with a pen that I had recently received from my previous job. Because doing so was dripping with irony. - Wirehead
Sounds like a good plan! - Anne Bouey
I am absurdly happy to be facing gainful employment and would be hard pressed to pick the biggest upside of it. I can easily pinpoint the biggest downside though: no more days spent with Echo and a laptop in my lap. This cat is going to be seriously pissed...
Employment: I haz it. Just got the offer call and I go in this afternoon to fill out my paperwork. And in related news: OMFGSQUEEEEEE!!!!!
AWeSoME!!! Congrats! - Kevin Johnson
Congratulations! - Fred Yankowski
Toast, toast, pretty little toast, jump in my mouth and become a ghost!
Sung to the tune of "trout, trout, pretty little trout" a la Bugs Bunny http://www.youtube.com/watch... - FFing Enigma
One of my favorite Bugs Bunny cartoons. :) - LB needs a hero!
*twiddles thumbs* *waits impatiently* *taps foot*
Things I could eat right now (being literal people, not a TWSS situation!!): the better part of a pizza and/or dozen Krispy Kremes. The items I have on hand to eat: neither pizza nor doughnuts. Hrm.
