For the first time ever, winter coat shopping. Can't one just beat the chill w/ long braised beef in stock w/ root vegetables in cast iron?

it took me awhile to accept the winter coat reality, oh but when I did there was a whole new world of fabulous to explore! besides, you know everyone look fine in a peacoat.

I did order a kind of light jacket, but damn if isn't going to be in the mid 70's today.

I spent several years in D.C. I wouldn't call what I experienced there "winter". More like "a somewhat slightly harsher autumn with an early spring"

I'm from San Diego. It's been 70F degrees on Christmas day. Your winter and my winter are likely incongruent :( EDIT: It snows here, right? Yeah. Never really seen snow, so...winter. And a coat.

There are usually a couple weeks when it gets pretty cold, and even when the temperature isn't that bad, it can get pretty windy. It does snow in DC, but wintry mix is more common.

this is the weather that gets jackets left at the office because it's cold in the morning and warm by the time you leave. then, the next morning, you realize you left it :)
