The number of seabirds, including gulls, puffins and auklets, has dropped significantly in the Gulf of Alaska and northeast Bering Sea, a possible consequence of warmer waters, according to a preliminary federal analysis of nearly 40 years of surveys. U.S. Geological Survey experts found the seabird population density declined 2 percent annually... - http://jenn2d2.tumblr.com/post...

In recent days, public statements from businesses like Walmart, which is based in Arkansas, have played a big part in getting the Arkansas governor, Asa Hutchinson, and the governor of Indiana, Mike Pence, to reconsider their previous support for the religious freedom laws as passed by their Legislatures. Laura's post (http://friendfeed.com/lsw...) reminded me how irritated I am that the person I loaned my paperback copy of "The Crying of Lot 49" never returned it. I got it for a dollar, but it is the principle of the thing.
I think it's especially annoying that a) I can't seem to find the edition I had, with the cover art I liked and b) they're all more than $1 (This is the cover art: http://ronosaurusrex.com/metablo...) - Jennifer Dittrich
I don't know if it is just my friends, or what, but almost every book out of the hundreds I've loaned has come back. It's an unusual enough occurrence that it stands out. - Jennifer Dittrich

If elected president, Walker says that he’ll pull back on any nuclear agreement on day one. And revealingly, he says he doesn’t care if our trading partners aren’t willing to go along with us. He’ll have America go it alone. This is a good encapsulation of Walker’s seemingly total ignorance of this topic. What brought Iran to the table and forced... - http://jenn2d2.tumblr.com/post...

Natural Easter Eggs - http://food52.com/blog...
"Today: No PAAS, no problem. Corynne Pless shares a handy recipe so that any inky vegetable can be used to dye Easter Eggs. Just check your crisper drawer to get started. Whether you’re dedicated to the all-natural lifestyle or you merely forgot to pick up food dye from the store, using vegetables is an easy and inexpensive way of tackling the age-old tradition of dying Easter eggs. Using just vinegar, water, and vegetables, your eggs will soak up earthy jewel tones overnight. Purple cabbage—that often lone soldier of the crisper drawer—makes eggshells an especially gorgeous blue-green, and you can use Washi tape and lace scraps to create natural designs on them." - Jennifer Dittrich
I've always wanted to try this out. No idea if I'll have time this weekend, but I'm clipping it to my craft ideas in Evernote in case I want to give it a go next year. - Jennifer Dittrich

The Deepwater Horizon spill, which began April 20, 2010, involved 205.8 million gallons of crude oil that spilled from a well head blow-out during the next three months. Going through my old old feed, it is just a wasteland from April '08 up to about mid-2010. It makes sense, in a way - I mostly imported feeds from elsewhere (Twitter, GReader, Digg, LiveJournal) and was still living with roommates. I didn't really start doing a lot of native posts until late. I know I was being chatty, but not on my feed.
