Laura's post (http://friendfeed.com/lsw...) reminded me how irritated I am that the person I loaned my paperback copy of "The Crying of Lot 49" never returned it. I got it for a dollar, but it is the principle of the thing.

I think it's especially annoying that a) I can't seem to find the edition I had, with the cover art I liked and b) they're all more than $1 (This is the cover art: http://ronosaurusrex.com/metablo...)

It's weird to me that almost all of the covers don't have someone on them, when the protagonist is so central to how you view everything that's going on.

For any book I lend, I always assume I'll never see it again. :)

I was doing a manga trade with a friend and never got back 4 of them. Now I don't lend books unless I'm ok with not getting it back.

I'm with Ken. I never expect to see those books again.

I don't know if it is just my friends, or what, but almost every book out of the hundreds I've loaned has come back. It's an unusual enough occurrence that it stands out.
