Reblog if you've ever yelled at a book. - http://ellbeecee.tumblr.com/post...
Coming up in March, I'll hit 9 years smoke-free. That's great. The last two days I've been fighting terrible cravings - to the point that yesterday when I was walking into the grocery, I had to actively tell myself that I don't smoke anymore and buying cigarettes isn't default behavior. Ugh.
It's been a long time since I've been slapped like this with my nicotine addiction. Guess my brain just decided I needed the reminder for some reason. - ellbeecee
In the morning, as I watch first cup of coffee brew, I sometimes reflexively reach for my "pack of butts" Sometimes you just have to remind yourself that you don't DO that anymore. Good for you for winning that round. - WarLord
I suspected my Costco membership was expired - tested @ gas and it is, but got a message to renew before next purchase. planned that for today too, so ok.
just wanted to fill up before shopping - ellbeecee
moonpin: thegreenwolf: tearun: Ah yes the majestic flapflaps… Wait, are those breaching mantas? no they are the majestic flapflaps - http://ellbeecee.tumblr.com/post...
Root canals aren't fun, but poking at your numb face afterward is one way to spend an afternoon.
ok, that made me giggle. I want to set you up with a series of blunt instruments to poke yourself with (spoon, chop stick, sharpie, rabbit's foot....) - RudĩϐЯaЯïan
LOL at "rabbit's foot" - Marie
This was me yesterday after they finished mine. - Katy S
yep. not so much a fan of the shakes this dental numbing stuff causes in me. they'll go away, but wow.
I get the shakes, too, but only sometimes - my former dentist & I figured out it was due to low blood sugar. Not sure if you can eat before your dental procedures, but if you can, that might help. - Laura
Laura, it's the same way for me - it's definitely the anesthetic. But it is tied to blood sugar for me. I am fine if I get something done around lunch time, but first thing in the morning when I haven't had anything to eat? Shaky. - Laura
I don't particularly want this muffin right now, but with Root Canal Part 2 at 12:45, I don't foresee having lunch today and I'm going to need something in my stomach.
continuing my story of "I have no idea how long it really takes to get.anywhere in Atlanta" I'm here 20 minutes early for this appointment. if I'd left 20 minutes later, I'd likely have ended up 30 minutes late. - ellbeecee
^ yes. yes you would have. - t-ra is ugly crying
I think that's a universal law, not Atlanta-specific. - walt crawford
So, I can't put multiple trips in my cart at southwest.com and then buy them both at the same time. Each trip has to be bought separately? *grumble*
Ah handwriting samples. Where I show off how poor mine is even when I'm trying to write decently (I do better with a fountain pen, tbh, but I don't have one with me today). All quotes are from Tamora Pierce, one of my favorite authors ever, and fun to read, even as an adult. :)
Oh, so I should tag this #FFHandwritingMeme, I see? Ok then. - ellbeecee
I had to send a check to my dentists office, so I put a Hermey (the elf in who wants to be a dentist on Rudolph) stamp on the envelope.
Hmm. Southwest has pretty decent prices for flights to Maine in June. Now I need to decide if I really want to go up to my undergrad for my 20th reunion or if I've been all talk about it. Decisions, decisions.
tonight's #TheLibrarians is making me think of @seananmcguire's Indexing.
FemaleScienceProfessor: Contest Entries: Rejection Letters, 2 - http://science-professor.blogspot.com/2014...
"Thank you so, so much for your application to our Department. We were overwhelmed with the enthusiasm with which the scientific community rallied around our job posting, and to date with have received 1,217 applications (and counting!!!) from kindhearted individuals across the country. I'm sure you will agree that this is a very special achievement, which we could never have managed without your contribution." - ellbeecee
I know it's a contest, but it is open to real (albeit anonymized) letters, and tbh, I can imagine someplace writing a letter like this. :) - ellbeecee
some people fall off high heels and twist their ankles. I just fell off my birkenstocks. *points at self and laughs*
Attacked the kitchen cabinets today. I may have found canned goods that I'm pretty sure I moved here from Tucson, based on the "best by" dates(and the grocery store name: no Albertsons here that I know of) I moved here in 2010. Yeah.
also, I've moved once within Atlanta in that time. oops. - ellbeecee
The most recent issue of the alumni magazine from my undergrad announced this. It's just JSTOR though.
aspiringtrophyhusband: nowyoukno: Source for more facts follow NowYouKno A road has no special qualifiers. It connects point a to point b. "“I don’t want them to feel that my saying ‘no’ means that I don’t love them,” she said." - ellbeecee
^ this quote is really problematic to me. No, I don't have kids, but it seems like if your kids feel like you don't love them because you say no, there's something else going on. Am I missing something in the whole parenting concept with that? (I know, there are temper tantrums and such, but even then saying no doesn't mean you don't love them). - ellbeecee
Your comment reminds me of an an episode of Taxi where Elaine is telling about her son who wanted... something, I forget what, so he had asked for it in bedtime prayers. When it didn't happen or he didn't get it (whatever it was), she said she was sorry God didn't answer his prayer. The kid said that he did get an answer. The answer was no. - bentley
So, after reading about the Friends findability problem (http://friendfeed.com/lsw...), I thought to myself "self, you've only seen an episode here and there, mostly late in the series. Maybe you should try watching this show from the beginning". How did this thing ever last 10 seasons? I'm trying to give it a fair shake, but 6 episodes in...
...I'm not sure I want to continue to put up with homophobic jokes and these characters complaining about their life when they have it pretty damn good. - ellbeecee
It had some sharp comic timing and huge guest stars and a talented ensemble. I was never hugely into it but I watched maybe 30 episodes. I think it was more successful overseas than here, and it was a huge success here. But comedies are much more idiosyncratic than dramas -- they have to hit your humor sensibility just right. - Stephen Mack
Hanging at the laundrymat, writing thank you notes, as one does. #grown
Note to self: when running a water into the sink to do dishes, it helps to put the stopper in, so you don't ask yourself where the water's gone when you go to do them after they've been soaking for 10 minutes or so.
So glad I slept in and missed Today! The Musical because that looks like something that would have started my day off badly.
it's on at the laundrymat, but silent, which is how I know it existed. - ellbeecee
That moment you realize that if you keep trying to go back to sleep, you'll feel worse when the alarm goes off in 25 minutes. Bleh.
yeah...i just went back to sleep because i woke up at an ungodly hour. and i feel worse than i did before. stupid brain - Sir Shuping is just sir
I have to get up and head to the airport soon, or I would have tried to sleep more. - ellbeecee
Hit books from Christmas with the 6 year old nieces: The Book With No Pictures and Princess in Black. No Pictures hits just at the 6 year old humor level, every time they read it, more and more giggles.
(I clearly pick the BEST BOOKS for them ;) ) - ellbeecee
really, if you have 5-7 year old girls in your life, Princess in Black has been a huge hit. One of them constantly has her nose in it. They are currently "writing music" to go along with it. Also, easy enough they can read it themselves, but not too easy. - ellbeecee
I am rereading Station Eleven while sitting on a plane with two people coughing constantly behind me. Smart move, Carscaddon.
I watched Contagion? on the last international flight I took. Not smart :) - ~Courtney F
I think all future holiday travel should involve the new international terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson. It's not crowded, it's clean...so much better than the domestic concourses. I may say the same about first class tickets once actually flying, fwiw.
Oof, I just remembered: If you'd like copies of the Kindle versions of the New Millennium Editions of Diane Duane's Young Wizards series, I bought them the other day and the link can be used for up to 10 downloads. The link expires tomorrow(12/22), and since I've downloaded, there are 9 downloads left. Link in 1st comment:
bumping this since it should still be good today and I'm happy for people to use it. - ellbeecee
good lord I need to go to the mall. trying to figure out a way around it. haven't found one.
or at least not one that gets what I need on time. - ellbeecee
I have already been to the laundrymat and Costco (less than 10 minutes inside apart from buying gas. and I bought something) - ellbeecee
wattsay: beben-eleben: People Playing With Clouds And Forced Perspective Not my fault that I now have “Blow, Gabriel, Blow” stuck in my head. - http://ellbeecee.tumblr.com/post...
I have no idea what a HS classmate is referring to with the hashtag in this, but I'm just assuming it's something awesome to do with me.
