Have you tried leaving the lids loose until they freeze? That way the pressure won't build up as they freeze. Once frozen, you can tighten them. - Shannon Jiménez
Another alternative is to actually can the broth in the traditional way (when it is hot) and then store it in the pantry instead of the freezer, but that's a bigger PITA. - Shannon Jiménez
