I'm thinking for Christmas this year doing an all hors d'oeuvres meal.

For Rach's birthday last year we did a dessert dinner party. An hors d'oeuvres meal sounds yum

We do something like that. We call it a ploughman's lunch. Boudin, cheeses, meats, fruit, all laid out in the middle of the table and everyone just eats, drinks, and bes marry.

Royce, that sounds awesome.

That's our family tradition for New Year's Eve. :)

My friends did that recently when her dad (who works for a multinational cheese company) delivered 60 lbs of cheese to her house. It was a Cheese And Everything That Goes With It meal, and it was awesome.

we did this every year b/c people were in and out all day. quiche, cheese and crackers, cookies, pigs in a blanket, sometimes caviar (depending on how well we did that year) or smoked salmon, and always a pie. also to include whatever was in gift baskets people sent or brought over. beverages were each to their own, so mom stocked champagne, I did Campari and soda, my brother made the rum and eggnog, stepdad had his scotch, and kid bro had his Sprite stash. it's what I miss most about those days honestly.

pick 'n' mix tea FTW! :-)

We should be a very small group and I know I probably won't feel well enough to cook a huge meal so this seems easiest. I love finger foods.

I love finger foods. This is actually why I like to throw cocktail parties -- I get to make all the hors d'oeuvres! (I have a pinterest board for cocktail party food that might be useful for you. Most stuff on there is pretty simple to make, but it's all vegetarian.
