Re: Marketing your Marketing - http://www.pretzellogic.org/blog...
"Exactly. I get the need for marketing metrics and like it or not, thats how people are goaled. I just wonder if were mixing what done at the awareness and education stages with tactics that work at the qualified level.  The other way to look at it is that were increasingly borrowing  from marketing 1.0 tactics which won't scale on the social web." - Sameer
Re: Marketing your Marketing - http://www.pretzellogic.org/blog...
"Thanks Martijn. I don't have a problem with 'Likes' as a gesture, or one that marketing pays attention to. At the awareness and education stages, theres lots of value here and its the first step towards starting engagement.Just that when you are offering coupons to push Likes, the metrics start to get really squishy to some degree and you better be ready to scale  re: engaging with a wide, unqualified segment." - Sameer
Re: Marketing your Marketing - http://www.pretzellogic.org/blog...
"That was a great report.  I'm all for coupons and discounts to get interest up in a product. But this is a case of using a coupon to get a click on a "Like". At some point - a watchful CMO or any CFO will get wind of this and call BS." - Sameer

"Wow. I remember chatting with you about this last year at Defrag when it was still in the idea stage. So happy for you that you've made the plunge. From the ZapTXT days, I remember how far you would go to bend tools to manage meaningful info flow. That kind of passion sets you up really well to think through the right solution. Good luck!" - Sameer
Re: Assessing the Real Value of ‘Me’ - http://www.pretzellogic.org/blog...
"Agree. I did not imply that they are HR 'technology challenges'. This isn't for the faint of heart or the un motivated HR manager. This is for that forward looking HR executive and CXO that is looking to harness the real value of the workforce and direct HR strategy.  Also, Im not willing to categorically agree that HR is in the way. Ive spent plenty of time with many HR leaders who look at todays technology innovation as a fresh opportunity to re-cast the role they play." - Sameer

Re: Dreamforce 2011: Collaboration Hardwired into Context. - http://www.pretzellogic.org/blog...
"Thanks Ganesh.  Security for social data is an issue across the board. How ever, we have a bunch of regulated industry clients that are using social software now. Its not simple, has plenty of workarounds but is doable. In my mind, the bi-directional thing really needs to be done to get participation right. If your enterprise social web is another tab thats optional or just another resource or consumption mechanism, you may never remember to click on it." - Sameer

Re: Dreamforce 2011: Collaboration Hardwired into Context. - http://www.pretzellogic.org/blog...
"I would never give you a generic analyst-type answer to that :)  Depends on the use cases and the existing technology stack. Tibbr, though, considers this its primary differentiator in many ways and theres no question that they know SAP, Oracle and other resident technologies better than most given their middleware pedigree. On the other hand if you are building on Force.com, then technically, Chatter would be more appropriate.  All that said, integration is only one aspect for success (but you know that).  Ultimately, if the collaboration aspects are not usable or scalable, no amount of perfect integration will lead to meaningful participation. Thats why I would never opine on who is categorically better without knowing the customer context, and why I also think relying on Quadrants and Waves for such horizontal technology is downright dangerous." - Sameer
Re: Dreamforce 2011: Collaboration Hardwired into Context. - http://www.pretzellogic.org/blog...
"Thanks Emanuele Yes, two way is important. Some of the news announcements did touch on being able to make updates from within Chatter. I hope theres the kind of deep integration that can keep the majority of conversations and data access all in one stream, with the right filters and noise management of course. The less you have to shuffle from app to app, the better. From an industry perspective, as you can imagine, Im thrilled that were seeing a strong move away from "becoming social businesses" and moving towards such a model. Larger customers of these platforms will demand it. Earlier this year I keynoted a Yammer customer event and again, the larger customers are finding their own ways of associate collaboration with otherwise rigid claims management and disaster recovery efforts. Same for how communities in many Jive based systems are being used as well. So theres no question that the need exists for structured and collaborative worlds to come together. And to the degree that the..." - Sameer
