Realized today that running at this age is more a mental exercise than anything else. First few minutes, figure out what's going to hurt most; next few minutes, see if it's going to be bearable; remainder of run, try not to think about it.
With Jeter’s defense, Sabbathia’s pitching and Teixiera’s power, the #Yankees are going to be just fine. Oh, wait...
Nice to see Sabbathia picking up right where he left off last season. Getting rocked by the AAAAstros. May not get out of the 1st.

National Geographic Events - The Hidden Life of Wolves - http://events.nationalgeographic.com/events...
Went to see this yesterday. Some pretty amazing footage of a pack of wolves that was studied up close for 6 years. Also, heartbreaking. The government is about to totally cave on wolf protection based on the ignorance, deliberate misinformation and special interest money put forth by ranchers. - Kevin (aka ThreadKilla)
Maybe I should Kickstarter this idea. Have wolf watching trips as the payout... - Kevin (aka ThreadKilla)

Google to Glassholes: Stop making us look bad - GeekWire - http://www.geekwire.com/2014...
"For better or worse, the first interactions people have with Google Glass are through members of the Glass Explorer program who are wearing the device out in public. When those people are determined to act like idiots, that creates a problem for Glass. To head that off, Google has issued a few handy dos and don’ts for Explorers looking to take Glass with them out into public." - Kevin (aka ThreadKilla)

Comcast Agrees to Buy Time Warner Cable for $45.2 Billion - Bloomberg - http://www.bloomberg.com/news...
Given the rumors of the upcoming AppleTV set top including TWC live content, the conspiracy theorist in me wonders if TWC dangled the threat of an Apple deal to drive the price up for Comcast. After all, the cable industry as a whole probably fears Apple more than any other potential competitor and Comcast might see $44 billion as a small price to pay to prevent Apple from getting a foothold in the live content distribution business. - Kevin (aka ThreadKilla)
Olympic team figure skating idea: two full national teams on the ice at once. They all do their routines at the same time. Checking and boarding allowed. The team with the most skaters standing at the end of a 3-minute period wins. Presto! Figure skating finally becomes a real sport. Tell me you wouldn't watch that...

Since FF is basically LibrarianFeed these days, enjoy! - Kevin (aka ThreadKilla)
I'm going to guess not. Librarianship seems to have more navel gazing that most other professions, at least on this level. Usually when I see similar things in other professions the emphasis is on gender or racial diversity, not age, hairstyle, and sartorial choices. The last might be the natural result of having such a vast array of dress codes across the profession? Maybe? - Soup in a TARDIS

What the Heck is Happening to Windows? | Windows 8 content from Paul Thurrott's SuperSite for Windows - http://winsupersite.com/windows...
"[...]while Sinofsky had the maniacal power and force of will of a Steve Jobs, he lacked Jobs' best gift: An innate understanding of good design. Windows 8 is not well-designed. It's a mess. But Windows 8 is a bigger problem than that. Windows 8 is a disaster in every sense of the word." - Kevin (aka ThreadKilla)

Media should leave Marshawn Lynch alone - Sports - The Boston Globe - http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports...
"It’s not the guys who don’t talk that bother me. It’s the guys who have no respect for the jobs of other people. In my world, the bad guys are the athletes who make reporters and camera crews wait, then bail out a back door; guys who get thrills by inconveniencing other people; guys who waste other folks’ time. The true frauds compound this transgression by joining the media as soon as their playing careers end. Lynch didn’t do that. He just made it clear he did not want to participate." - Kevin (aka ThreadKilla)

Additionally Lenovo will receive over 2,000 patent assets, as well as the Motorola Mobility brand and trademark portfolio." http://investor.google.com/release... - Kevin (aka ThreadKilla)

Sochi: the most corrupt Olympic Games in history - Boing Boing - http://boingboing.net/2014...
Russian opposition member Alexei Navalny created a website to document the rampant corruption at the Sochi Olympics. The Subtle Art of Breaking Building Laws - http://gizmodo.com/the-sub...
"Building permits are a wonderful thing: They protect us from slum conditions and scammers. They make money for our local governments. But they're also a major financial hurdle for independent home builders—and rules are meant to be broken, man. There's a rich, if somewhat under-the-radar, tradition of architectural loopholes out there, and it ranges from Spain to the backwoods of the United States." - Kevin (aka ThreadKilla)
