Went to see this yesterday. Some pretty amazing footage of a pack of wolves that was studied up close for 6 years. Also, heartbreaking. The government is about to totally cave on wolf protection based on the ignorance, deliberate misinformation and special interest money put forth by ranchers.

Sadly, money talks and there's no money in protecting wildlife. What's worse is that the data supporting how much ranchers lose to wolves is heavily skewed and much of it is unreliable hearsay. That's not to say that ranchers don't have legitimate concerns, but at the same time, they have managed to build an entire mountain range out of a molehill. And because ranching is Big Money and our government is easily bought when it comes to pitting capitalism against environmentalism, wolves lose.

Yep. One thing I learned that really made me angry was that the necropsies of the Wedge Pack, killed by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife after a rancher insisted they were killing his livestock, showed that they'd been eating nothing but deer, elk and small game. That little fact hadn't gotten a lot of attention.

The picture I posted last week of me holding the baby wolf was at the Dutcher's house in Idaho.

I've decided that, since I don't have kids, I'm going to put my life savings into buying land and provisioning a wolf reserve somewhere.

I love this idea. I would happily come work for your reserve.

Maybe I should Kickstarter this idea. Have wolf watching trips as the payout...
