Can't sleep anyway - time to call the hospital and see how Dad's doing.
Dad sounds OK. He's tired - can't blame him - but he's lucid and able to eat his own food. Lots and lots of tests. Dad being Dad, he was more interested in what I was doing. :) - teleken
sounds good, given the situation. - Big Joe Silenced
It really does. No new symptoms, just the same stuff he's had since the Election Day Stroke in 2008. - teleken
I think they plan to cut him loose in a day or two. He'll be back to his recliner, his TV and his cats. Given he just tuned 70, I'm totally fine with that. - teleken
Things aren't as good as they appeared on the surface. My dad's left carotid artery is completely blocked, and surgery would kill him. In addition, he's lost the use of his right hand, and they don't know whether or not it will come back. They're going to try thinning his blood further to see if that will help with the arterial blockage. - teleken
Sorry to hear that. Hope they can find a way to improve his situation. - LB's FF Hubby
PT to see whether the right hand is recoverable or teach him to eat, etc one-handed with his left. As far as the implications with the rest... I may need to take a flight to FL soon. - teleken
Sorry the news wasn't better. - WoH: Professor MOTHRA
Thanks. I'm hanging in there and hoping everything will be ok. - teleken

100%. He can't stand up on his own and can't move anything past his right wrist, although he can move his arm somewhat. They're moving him to a physical rehabilitation facility tomorrow - duration of stay TBD. I've been awake about 30 hours now - simply can't sleep. - teleken
Once he is is doing PT they will know more. Try to get some sleep - you really need some! Have you got anything that will give you a break for a few hours? - WoH: Professor MOTHRA
Trying to give myself a break this evening - I feel guilty doing so, though. My dad's a proud guy, and this is hurting him mentally as much as anything. He confessed to me yesterday that his right arm is paralyzed, although I'm sure he knew I already knew. He's suffering, and that's the most painful thing to me. - teleken
That must be very hard to bear, especially from a distance. But you do need to take care of yourself, too. ((Hugs)) - WoH: Professor MOTHRA
