So the comedy club I volunteer at is a non-profit organization. Our big yearly event, an all women comedy festival, starts next week and some dude decided he was going to protest it because it is sexist. That is fine he said he would protest quietly, if he wants to be wrong good for him. But then he ripped down all of our posters
And replaced then with his photoshopped offensive posters. Those posters aren't cheap and we ran out, so he effectively screwed up one of our chief ways of advertising (huge foot traffic area). Not to mention a LOT or work and money went into those posters. People suck. - Joe "The Anvil" Pierce
That really sucks :( Can you get the word out and see if the community will help fund some more posters and help with advertising? And isn't that also a criminal act? - WoH: Professor MOTHRA
What a dick. I agree with WoH that if you guys get the word out on the internet, that you may get some donations that would help there be more posters (also the word getting out would itself let people know about the festival). Of course, this asshole protests when there are all male comedy bills, right? - Spidra Webster
Let us know the name of the club and link to the info. I'll tweet this for sure. - Spidra Webster
Bill him. Or hell, see if he can be charged with vandalism, etc. - Andrew C (see frenf.it)
I think if you tweet a couple comedians on Twitter like Marc Maron, they might be willing to tweet it as well since one jackass is trying to shut it down.... - Spidra Webster
The good news is that I can see there's already been some coverage in local papers, comedy sites and Twitter on this. So I hope they'll be able to screw up this guy's objective. - Spidra Webster
Yeah we have been getting decent coverage it is just a huge bummer this guy tried to ruin things. He also made a craigslist ad to get people to protest with him. He put his number on it so he had heard from a large number of comedians lol. As for the legality, I don't know if Curious is going to go after him but some of th sponsors sure should. He used their logos on his false poster... Oops! I wanted to tweet a few people like Jackie Kashian an Lauren Lapkus who have been on the show but a company memo has asked we don't personally kick up any extra dust. - Joe "The Anvil" Pierce
Well, I just tweeted Maron about it. We'll see if he ignores it. I also posted about it on my Twitter and Facebook. I think it was a bit of a mistake for the official AJND account to use the MRA hashtag as it probably attracted a bunch of MRA kooks to join his cause. :( - Spidra Webster
Yeah. It's going to be an interesting year. - Joe "The Anvil" Pierce
I love that you guys have a non-profit comedy club, though. That's great. - Spidra Webster
It's an interesting model and the mission statement is pretty awesome. It's a great community. - Joe "The Anvil" Pierce
