When did buying toys become so difficult? Skylanders? Trap Team?
As far as I can tell, this merges the whole Pokemon thing of catching new characters, but of course you have to have a trap for each of them. - Jennifer Dittrich
Skylanders prints money, so I distrust it on principle. It prints so much money that Disney and Nintendo rolled out their own versions (Disney Infinity and Amiibos). I really worry that the whole concept is a giant money sink for consumers/fans. - Andrew C (✔)
It totally is a giant money sink. I've been lucky to avoid Skylanders so far. My kid has asked for the Trap Team starter but he hasn't been too noisy about it since he's still rather engrossed in Minecraft. Plus we still haven't even finished the original Skylanders game which we got for free when my cousin gifted the entire set to us after the second set (Giants or something) came out. - rønin
My nephew just got the new Trap Team and he couldn't stop talking about getting new traps. He even told my mom, "How many can you afford?" Like Disney Infinity and the new Nintendo Amiibos, it's a huge money sink. I looked up the 8 pack of traps and it's $40. Ridiculous. - Rodfather
He was showing me this cardboard thing to put the traps on and talking about collecting all of them. There's 38(!) of them. http://theco-operatives.com/wp-cont.... That's not even including the new figurines. He kept saying "I need these!" I said no, you don't need any of them. You want them. You already have enough Skylanders. - Rodfather
My sister tells me that my nephew loves this. Then says she bought some of the figures and that I should get him a "trap." I don't know what the hell that is and looking at Toys R Us' website doesn't help. I'm going to tell her to just send me the link to what he wants. - Mary Carmen

In this new game you can trap enemies with those traps and use them an as ally. It's sort of like a pokeball. So they can bring those traps to a friend's house and use those monsters. Or buy all the traps so you can have all 38 trappable monsters. - Rodfather
When you buy the game it comes with this portal that connects to the console via USB. There's a slot for a trap and when you come across a monster in the game that you can trap it saves it to the trap. - Rodfather
Since you can only trap a monster with the appropriate element, it kinda forces you to buy more traps. So like to trap a earth monster you need a earth trap. - Rodfather
