I remember when Mona popped up in 2008/9 and suddenly became a bit of a sensation. Shame she doesn't still visit once in a while.

Those were the days. So many people left, assuming FB would pull the plug - and here we are. With the friends who feed us.

I remember the takeover day - very odd. Lots of people saying it will never be the same again. Facebook left ff to stagnate, and ironically - the fact that it's stayed the same is the reason we're all still here. Its death (if you like) was actually a form of suspended animation, and that allows it to live. So many other social platforms are just mayflys, with people swarming round them, only to depart for pastures new, when the next big thing comes along.

Iain is right. All the other platforms are the Next Big Thing, until they "improve" themselves to the point where they aren't what we liked about them. Because ff didn't change, it remains the very thing we liked in the first place.

well a lot of them we here.. Mona, scobles , andy biao, charlene ll ,chris messina, dave winer.. to name a few.. they come and left.. and thats it.. When FF started it was the next big thing.. .. the growth and traction was crazy.... maybe thats why FB bought the competition out.

I can remember pressing the pause button on the live feed, and reading or replying to a post - a couple of minutes later you'd look up and it would say "268 queued items......."

We should make a come and left list for prosperity. Like a Friend and Feed (R&R) Hall of Fame. Chris Pirillo. We still had Robert Scoble doing the tours for the Gillmor Gang until very recently (although I haven't checked if that was still the case)..
