Is it legal to take photos in public spaces that includes people you do not know, either facing the camera or not, ie taking a photo in a park? Nothing weird though ;) Specifically candid shots that just include people, but the people are not the actual subject. Hope that is clear.

yes it's legal to take the pictures. yes it's legal to print them or view them. if there's a news story related to the scene, they can go in the newspaper with an article. however without a model release you may not be able to sell them for commercial purposes.

The most common legal issue I experience is just being stopped by cops (more often private security though). Occasionally I'm told I'm not allowed to take pictures of something (bullshit). Most are smart enough not to say that though and I'm told instead that I'm "trespassing" (usually I'm standing in a parking lot or something which would make this *technically* true but ridiculous). It happens frequently enough to be very annoying, though I've yet to be given an especially hard time.

As of yet, not much to share. I guess the biggest issue/question I deal with most is copyright issues. Who can use the picture when, where, how, etc and what the price correlation is with the use.
