"The latest buzz on the internet is about whether HAARP is the dirty little secret that is making these horrible tornados pop up all over the place. Could it be? Probably. We are starting to see weird weather patterns develop and we all know now that we just had the deadliest tornado in history occur, with hundred skilled. Is this our government at work here?"

"With Sarah Palin fever sweeping across the media again, persistent Palin critic and conservative commentator George Will clearly was not excited by the speculation surrounding her potential run for President. Donna Brazile, Jonathan Karl and Ed Gillespie joined in on the conversation, yet Will had the most pointed remarks regarding how Palin is a “genius at manipulating” the infinite media attention she receives."
- Brian Sullivan
I wouldn't trust Palin to fetch the newspaper so this certainly makes sense.

I am getting really tired of seeing/hearing this disclaimer after every fucking commercial on Canadian TV. I want a who the fuck cares override.

This is my son when we stayed at a dude ranch in Alberta a number of years ago -- he was too small to go on the trail rides so riding Charlie around the pen was his riding experience.

The accident was pretty substantial and the time to extricate him was excruciatingly long -- nice to hear that he has no serious injury.

"Nothing, he said, is as tough as telling fellow partners that their best days are behind them. “I’ve always joked that I wish I could have these conversations by phone,” Mr. Levine said. “If someone wants to stay and you don’t want them to, that’s the hardest. It’s like going to your parents and telling them they can’t handle their affairs anymore.”"
- Brian Sullivan
The story of the partner who found out that he lost his job due to a password changed, that exact same thing happened to my friend's mother. She was trying to log into the network at home couldn't get in. Phone calls later she found out that she was "demoted", they let her keep her long time clients, but divvied up the 10 years and younger clients to everyone else. When she got to the office, to confront them about doing that over the phone, she found her office completely packed.

"Sinkholes – some big enough to swallow a car – are collapsing the earth in a Quebec City neighbourhood and leaving experts baffled. About 40 of the holes ranging between six metres wide and about five metres deep have appeared in the past week, prompting the city to issue an evacuation order."

I have been running my own business or operating as a freelancer for 20 years. During that time more than once I decided it was just too tough and tried to reenter the job market. I got the "overqualified" response often and it became very obvious what it meant.

"When the federal government takes another stab at tabling a budget next month, the deficit situation will look a little better than the last time around. Preliminary figures released Friday show the deficit for the past fiscal year was lower than projected when the budget was initial brought down March 22, but not passed due to the minority government's defeat in the House of Common and subsequent election on May 2."

"Now, the photographic world up in arms, Sigma is doing its best to downplay the $10,000 price tag. Sigma's argument: the $10,000 sticker price is only the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) and that the street price could be lower,in the $7,000 range."

So essentially it is 15mp 1.5 APS-C sensor (somehow they imagine it and advertise it as a 45mp sensor - because of the "superior" Foveon technology) competing against $1200 Nikons and Canons (with much more extensive lens selections -- and better lenses).

Althouse: "The bottom line is Sarah Palin is not going to run for president... She's making money, she's moved on..." - http://althouse.blogspot.com/2011...
""... she's kind of an entertainer rather than a politician. She still has some sway with the grass roots, but she is not going to run." So says somebody close to Romney, according to Byron York. Somebody close to Pawlenty says something similar: "I don't think she's going to run... She has faded a lot in the last few months. I look at what she's doing now and say that she's found a way to get back in the story.""
- Brian Sullivan
And I thought she loved her country more than mere money. Another dream dashed.

Well this is a potential opponent's team talking so maybe it is just smoke screen.

"In his own weird way, Zuckerberg seemed to be trying to do the right thing, but he also said he was thinking about taking up hunting as well, which seemed to have little to do with the rationale that he provided for personally killing his own farm animals. Maybe he should give Godaddy CEO Bob Parsons a call so they can kill African big game and say they are doing the farmers a favour. We hear that Parsons' elephant soup is to die for."

WTF -- got a meatspace spam ad for this today. Seems like snake oil -- the list of diseases this is supposed to provide relief for covers a whole page.
- Brian Sullivan
About 2/3's of those, it probably would help, either thanks to the increased pressure, or the increased level of oxygen. Some of them, I don't have a clue how they well help, e.g. AIDS, Down Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, etc.

I'd forgotten about Indy! Ever since the series split in two, it's dropped like a stone in my interest. Was more a fan of the road courses anyway.

I am not a big 500 fan either (and like you became less so after George mucked things up) but it is still a big event.

"Zinfandel is a variety of red grape planted in over 10 percent of California vineyards.[1] DNA fingerprinting revealed that it is genetically equivalent to the Croatian grape Crljenak Kaštelanski, and also the Primitivo variety traditionally grown in the "heel" of Italy, where it was introduced in the 18th century. The grape found its way to the United States in the mid-19th century, and became known by variations of the name "Zinfandel", a name of uncertain origin."
- Brian Sullivan
So Zinfandel (or at least the name) is uniquely North American but is basically Primitivo.
