I'm sure there are ways of ratcheting up the difficulty, but by using a light beam instead of a projectile, they're basically cutting out a large chunk of key marksmanship skills: trigger control, compensating for bullet drop and wind effects, adjusting to recoil (what little was left with air guns to begin with), reloading (swap battery packs? shoot off-screen?). Why even bother to pretend that it's the same thing? - Brian Chang
