So few cars are manual these days. I haven't owned a manual for 14 years myself

There was some article I saw recently that said that a manual is slight protection against car theft because many car thieves don't know how to drive stick.

I've only ever owned a manual. My next car will likely be an automatic. Not because I want one but because the trim level of the car I want doesn't come in manual. Stupid manufacturer lineup quirks.

I've only ever owned a manual. If I had a highway rush hour commute, I'd get an automatic, but I take the train to work so that doesn't apply.

A lot of small minded people use it as a yardstick for their masculinity.
- Mo Kargas
It takes human reflexes... run that simulation and you'll be fine.

You must have felt like how I do when I get into an automatic. On the freeway? Panic attack time!
- Anika
I've tried driving an automatic fairly recently and I finally understood how people can get distracted when driving. You're really a passenger. There's nothing to do. Dangerous. (Of course, this doesn't apply to highway rush hour. Then there's a lot to do.)

Rush hour isn't all that fun but overall I just enjoy driving. Driving a manual is a huge part of that. I don't know that driving will be as fun once I'm forced away from a manual for good.

My current car is paddle-shift sports auto. Don't miss a super heavy sports car clutch in traffic I have to say. Does remove some driver engagement when on twisties or hill runs, but not all that much. Even the GT-R and new Porsches are twin clutch sports autos now

I see a lot of GT-Rs here outside of Nashville. Seeing as it's been my favorite car going back into my teen years I obviously geek out every time I see one. They were so rare every other place I've lived. Now I see at least one almost every day. I guess my close proximity to a Nissan plant has something to do with it. Folks must get a nice discount or something. Wish I had the coin to drop on one of those. Maybe someday. I hear the transmissions on them are terrible though so buying one used could be a real crap shoot.

I'd love one, but they touch $200k AUD. Miles out of my range. Can get the earlier models, R32, R33 and R34. All manual, but maintenance is costly!!

when I bought my car in 2013 I really wanted to go back to a manual. it was really my one must have, and so that's what I have. I'm so glad I did.

Of the 5 new cars I've ever owned, 4 have been manuals. It's practically my only "must have" option, which significantly limits my purchasing choices. Driving an auto just feels like "steering". In this I am unashamedly a snob.

I think manual lovers are running out of options for sure. Especially when it comes to hybrid and electric vehicles, some of which don't even have a gearbox
- Mo Kargas
It will be a very long time before I can afford a hybrid or electric car, so I'm fine. :-)
