"I’ve been accused of being somewhat competitive and I’ve always regarded that as a positive attribute given that I earn my income trying to convince juries that my opponent is wrong. I’m competing all of the time and if I’m being honest, I really enjoy what I do. So it was not completely unexpected that once I started the Fitbit program that I would walk more. What I did not fully understand is that I’d become a prisoner to the rubber band from hell that I have on my wrist."

Ha! And this is why I have refused all friend connections on FitBit. I've invested in FitBit for me, not for pride or ego. :)

The competition is part of my motivation. Some days it works, some days I don't care.

Ordinarily I wouldn't mind some friendly competition of just seeing someone else's numbers and trying to surpass that, but folks have been kind of mean and often times really rude about their competitiveness. So for the sake of retaining the enjoyment I get from having a FitBit, I sequestered myself. But then again, I'm fiercely competitive with myself, so surpassing daily and weekly step goals comes naturally for me. I am the outlier. :)

Now my boyfriend on the other hand...he loves the competitiveness. And this is exactly what it took to get him to start moving more! Love it!

Great article!

Love this. As a chick with zero competitiveness it's funny to see how the other half lives. :P
