The realtor had the bright idea that the house should be power washed so her husband rented a machine and their first attempt was Thursday. It rained hard that day and the machine wasn't working right but even before that, I didn't know they were coming until the guy knocked on my door to tell me to close all the windows.
So I look over the side of the porch, & see they had my hose hooked to my faucet & they're about to be using my water for the job. Hell no! - Starmama
Power washing in a drought? Abd you wanna use MY water & raise MY rate? - Starmama
The people in the back let them use their water faucet but that's when they found the machine didn't work & then another storm cane through so they left. Came back yesterday finish the job. Again didn't let me know. They accomplished nothing except making a mess they didn't clean up. Paint chips EVERYWHERE all over our wooden stairs and the concrete outside. I didn't even see the mess until I went outside after they'd left. - Starmama
I called the realtor to let her know about the mess they left so maybe she'll call me back today. I shouldn't have to clean up after inept work and workers. - Starmama
Geeeeeeezzzzzz. :-/ - vicster.
Abd how fucking irresponsible to wash chipping paint off and just let it go wherever. What did they expect, the paint would just wash away down the gutter? And end up in the estuary? The bay? Jerks. - Starmama
I'm starting to doubt every hopeful thing that lady told me. All she wants is to make a sale. - Starmama
Grrr! How old is this house? Old enough to have lead based paint? Lead based paint was banned in the 70s. - Greg GuitarBuster
It was built in 1914, converted to a duplex in 1959. No idea how long since it's been painted, we've been here 8 years & it looked like an old paint job then. But even "safe" paint chips should be swept up, not washed into the gutter. - Starmama
Lead testing in old houses rented with a section8 voucher is required by HUD, this house passed all the tests in 2006. & Jayden's had bloodwork done twice since we lived here, lead levels fine. But who knows what's in the layers of paint on that ancient wood siding. - Starmama
well, that sounds a little better, but they should have done some research before even thinking about power washing. - Greg GuitarBuster
I have never heard of a realtor doing that themselves. That sounds chintzy and dangerous. - Anika
Today they're on ladders scraping paint off the siding. Tito, the landlord who didn't want to paint, is over here on a ladder. I said "Tito why you doing that, thought you were selling?" He said "I'm just helping these guys" I said "well you 3 months late, coulda did all that in September when it was dry, and you'd still be getting paid" all he said was "yeah I know" - Starmama
Then I'm talking to the guy in charge, realtor's husband. About the mess. He was on the phone acting huffy. He says "we can't clean it until everything's dry (from the rain)" okay, fine, someone coulda told me that before y'all left yesterday. Then he's yelling at me, "leave my guys alone so they can do their job" wait, what? Had to let him know, you don't talk to me like that. I got a question I'm asking it, whatever you say. And I'm the wrong one to be talking down to. - Starmama
They had to have entered your unit to "borrow" your tap like that. It's illegal to do that without 24 hrs notice. Also, I suspect it's illegal to run a tenant's water bill up for maintenance that isn't specific to that tenant. - Spidra Webster
It's an outside tap, and I removed the handle so people would stop using it but it's easy turn anyway with pliers. - Starmama
Oh no. Wrong on so many levels. - AHnix (Anna Haro)
