So we had an owner special-order a birthday cake. Difficulty: must be gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, and soy-free. Seriously. A vegan with celiac and an allergy to soy! I suggested we put a candle in a banana & call it a day. It would look and definitely taste better than the cake we put together.

The Lord wept and hid His eyes, and darkness swept the land, when the "frosting" was applied to that cake. Canola oil + powdered sugar + endless hand whipping = something approximating, yet completely unlike delicious buttercream. - Lo
