I stumbled across this cheesy animated Circus Center promo. It's composed almost entirely of photos I took. - Seth

isn't it great when the system actually works?! - Rachel Lea Fox
When I recently traded-in my car I was sure I had the title (i'm very organized). Turned out, I didn't. The DMV had my registration and license plate info wrong in their system and told me they sent the title to someone else, with a different name, in a different town, with a different registration number. When I asked for a copy, they matter-of-factly requested a check for $50 (because that's what copies of your title cost). No matter what argument I tried, I couldn't get my title without paying up. - Ryan Kaisoglus
I bet we could quickly collect many stories of DMV insanity. In my case, their confusion was actually pretty reasonable. We went through a bit of a paperwork shell game, and everyone a necessary piece of the blunder. Stone soup snafu? - Seth

Yeah, it's important to use the right interface. That reminds me of the Onion headline "New Device Converts Grass To Meat" (with photo of cow). - Seth

"The initial energy stored within the capacitor bank is typically in the range of 3,500 - 6,300 Joules (watt-seconds). Because this energy is discharged in approximately 20 millionths of a second, the instantaneous power is very large and, for a brief instant, is roughly equivalent to the electrical power consumed by a good sized city. The repulsion forces between the work coil and the coin create tremendous radial compressive forces that easily overcome the yield strength of the metal alloys in the coin, causing the coin to plastically deform into a smaller diameter. The higher the initial energy, the greater the degree of "shrinkage". Applying a 6,300 joule pulse results in a quarter whose final diameter is about 0.1" SMALLER than a dime! At the same time, similar radial expansion forces cause the work coil to explode in a potentially lethal shower of copper fragments." - Private Sanjeev

His capacitor banks are huge! This 6100J power pack for photographic strobes (http://www.bron.ch/bc_pd_p...) is less than 35lbs. What's the difference? Is this guy just using higher voltage? - Gabe

I went out there for the annual lighting of the old lighthouse, but the sunset was the real treat, and they have those every day. I need to get out to the coast more often. - Seth
