A bad way to die, another BP accident http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki... So, you thought the Abyss was fiction? How about explosive decompression from 9 atmospheres, what happens? " violently exploded due to the rapid and massive expansion of internal gases. All of his thoracic and abdominal organs, and even his thoracic spine were...
Yes, first he exploded from inside out. His SPINE was EJECTED. And his remains were pushed out through a very small opening. - Ray Cromwell
Just watched Killzone 3 trailer in WebM on Youtube and H264 on GameTrailers and WebM has significantly more blocking artifacts :-(
What's the smallest/thinest/lightest netbook you can buy today? Why do netbooks have giant VGA ports!?!
Did you know the US government built the safest car ever made, a car that gets 32mpg? http://jalopnik.com/5549518... Astonishing.
BSG and LOST should have switched endings. Head Six as purgatory/alt-reality heaven where Baltar gets to have sex with Victoria's Secret model, but fleet really died in rescue of Hera.. LOSTies get teleported back in time 150,000 years, it turns out, they and their children built the Island.
Just saw this headline: "Thai 'red shirts' start trek to TV satellite station" I don't think it was an intentional Star Trek reference.
There's _always_ time for a bouncy castle. :) - Micah

Even Microsoft didn't restrict the programming languages you could use for their platforms, Apple Evil > Microsoft Evil
Yeah, this latest move has really turned me off the platform. Can't wait for Chrome touch tablets now. - Matt M (inactive)
Maybe Devs should actually picket and protest the next WWDC or Apple Event, I mean, this is getting ridiculous. - Ray Cromwell
Couple this with the uncertainty of whether your app will even be approved (plus waiting up to a month or more) and it makes for an undesirable platform to develop for. - Arthur Kalmenson
With each new iPhone OS, Apple seems to be removing more and more freedom from developers.
Why u say this? Maybe I lost something in the presentation yesterday. - Alan Lugiai
@psvensson For mobile, code size is critical and obfuscation a must, unobf src is just punishing your users for religious reasons.
@bradneuberg (SVG/WebGL) Kinda cool, but you can implement those filters as a pixel shader directly in WebGL and get higher perf. :)
@psvensson I sympathize with Alex's argument, but end user experience trumps devs, especially on mobile, and alternatives soluts (OSS) exist
Found good use for iPad - reading while on the toilet. Should rename it to the iDump
WTF...Congressman asks military if Island of Guam will literally Capsize from population? How do these people get elected?
@psvensson Compiled code isn't useless outside of GWT, see http://code.google.com/p... JS needs similar export if u useaggressive obfuscation tool
@psvensson As an example of optimization, see http://code.google.com/events..., GwtQuery beating Dojo, jQuery, and all other selector engines.
@psvensson GWT is an *optimizing* compiler, in many cases, you don't pay for OO/abstraction, it's not about Java, it's about optimization.
iPad hasn't a rear camera, it'd be awkward for taking pictures, but don't understand why no front-facing WebCam for conf
@psvensson It's 134,000 lines of Jake2 code compiled to JS. Would you like to rewrite all of that by hand? We ported it in 1 month.
@psvensson It's a port of Jake2 (Java port of Quake2), GWT compiles Java to Javascript. Rewrite it in JS by hand if you want. :)
WTH hell does every iPad app cost $9.99, even those that are just recompiled iPhone apps for bigger screen? Ridiculous!
Flash? We don't need no stinkin' Flash! :)
@tberman another suspicious thing: Linux version runs 2x fast as OSX on similar HW.
@tberman If I 'double pump' the main loop (it uses setTimeout), FPS goes up,some bottlenecks in WebGL copying buffers to browser window.
@tberman It's not actually bound by JS speed, and if Quake3 or Doom3 had Java ports, we would have tried to do those. :)

My 4yr old son got to watch the House of Commons debate extraordinary rendition in the UK Parliament today :)
IE9 has HW accelerated SVG, but no <canvas>? I don't get it. Canvas is very easy and straightforward to implement.
