Opps, look like I had this video marked private. It's public now. - Ray Cromwell
I recall there was an extended basic cartridge for Vic-20 and C64 too that added turtle-style graphics. I think there were some software versions too. C64 BASIC had a hook called CHRGET that allowed you to easily extend the basic grammar. - Ray Cromwell

A girl and her lung: Reform for Sophie. - http://sophiejemima.blogspot.com/2009...
"Since that horrible October in 2005, Sophie has needed hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of treatments, hospitalizations, surgeries, medications, testing, and interventions in order to stay strong and healthy, and in some instances, to stay alive. She has required three bronchoscopies, the middle section of her lung removed, extensive genetic testing, cardiology work ups, dozens of x-rays, CT scans, and a two week trip to a pulmonary hospital in Denver. When she's healthy, she requires three steroids, twice a day, and when she's sick she is usually on five steroids, twice daily. She's been diagnosed with right middle lobe syndrome (though not anymore, since she had it removed), a genetic mutation of cystic fibrosis, severe uncontrollable asthma, and severe sinus disease. Since SoonerCare is the only insurance that will accept Sophie, we have to meet their financial criteria, which means living at or below the poverty level. I have had to quit wonderful jobs because I made too much money to qualify for SoonerCare. At this point I can only work either part-time, or for a very small salary, because we CANNOT afford to lose Sophie's healthcare coverage. It's the most important thing in our lives. We structure every single financial and professional decision we make around staying eligible for SoonerCare." - Ray Cromwell
A tale of "pre-existing condition" rejection that happened during a switch between insurance companies. - Ray Cromwell
With the number of layoffs we've seen over the last couple of years, we're going to start seeing a *lot* more people in this situation. If all it takes is one day of missing coverage to trigger preexisting conditions, that's a pretty low bar for slipping into the "utterly screwed" category. - Joel Webber
@zinf yes, still on codesite, sorry I've been busy with other stuff. If you submit some patches, I'll check em out.
I love GuiceServlet. serve("/foo/*").with(FooServlet.class) vs butt ugly web.xml
Boy that Avatar trailer is a let down from the hype, hope the 3D IMAX version is better. Shades of Final Fantasy Spirits Within.

One interesting side-effect here - the method inliner could be far more aggressive. Let DEFLATE take care of the duplicate code. - Matt M (inactive)
Yes, within limits, DEFLATE acts like a common-subexpression-eliminator. I actually have a new MethodInliner written which removes almost all restrictions (eval order, param assignment, size, flow control statements in body, etc) which can eliminate up to an additional "called only once" functions in Showcase. It probably won't make it into the trunk for awhile tho. - Ray Cromwell

Scaremongering starting: Swine flu jab link to killer nerve disease: Leaked letter reveals concern of neurologists over 25 deaths in America - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news...
I'm not trying to downplay GBS, but the hysteria over vaccine side effects compared to their benefit of blown way out of proportion. So, in 1976, out of millions vaccinated, 500 developed GBS, 25 died. Umm, so how many people die of Influenza, and how many deaths were saved by vaccination? No vaccine is going to be 100% safe. The anti-vaccine activists like Jim Carrey demand levels of proof of safety that are frankly impossible, if in principle and do massive harm to public health IMHO. Every year a new flu vaccine is developed, how many are tested to the levels people want? You can't run a multiyear study on vaccine trials when the virus mutates every year. - Ray Cromwell

Kid Rock on Twitter: "It’s gay. If one more person asks me if I have a Twitter, I’m going to tell them, ‘Twitter this shit, motherfucker. I don’t have anything to say, and what I have to say is not that relevant. Anything that is relevant, I’m going to bottle it up and then squeeze it onto a record somewhere."

Don't get Bolton's attack on Clinton rescuing Laura/Euna for NK trespass. Powell went to China for Bush after a spy plane crashed there. Maybe we should have disavowed that too. Yeah, I'm sure even more sanctions and belligerence would have gotten them released quickly. :-p
One can accuse NK of committing terrorist acts in the past, but you can't call arresting someone who trespasses on your sovereign territory "terrorism" and negotiating for their release "negotiating with terrorists". We arrest foreign citizens all the time who illegally enter, and sometimes when they break our laws, their government's embassies have to try and negotiate/help them. Does that make us terrorists negotiating with others? :) - Ray Cromwell
Bolton has to say something bad about it. That's just who he is, AFAICT. I believe someone said yesterday "If all we have to do to get countries like NK to do what we want them to is send an ex-president to hang out for a few hours, that's fine by me." - Joel Webber
Politicians can't refactor or prune, they can only tweak or add functionality to government. We're stuck with what we've got, or variations on it. No rewrites.

I don't think I can suffer watching another one of these Birthers being interviewed. I thought the Truthers were bad. I thought the Moon Landing deniers and Holocausters were bad. These people can't even get a respectable conspiracy theory, something worth being in denial about.
