The Slow Hunch: How Innovation is Created Through Group Intelligence - http://www.readwriteweb.com/archive...
"Ideas are rarely created through a "eureka" moment. It may seem like Doc Brown fell off his toilet and invented the flux capacitor, but really the idea for time travel and how to do it were converging in his brain for quite some time before the blow to head. Instead of an "aha!" moment, Johnson believes that ideas are born of a "slow hunch" that are made possible through periods of technological innovation and evolution. If you are creating a startup, where do you get your ideas from?" - Brian Sullivan
The idea that creativity (or innovation) is mostly accomplished in dark corners or garrets by individuals not groups is pervasive in today's world. Killing that perception is not an easy task. - Brian Sullivan
My son just emailed me -- he found an apartment in Yellowknife -- so I checked out their online presence.
Selling features: Bicycle storage facility,Canoe & kayak storage,Energized parking stalls - I guess you have to know your audience and environment. - Brian Sullivan
yellowknife ? Whew that way up north , good place to be a trapper / wild life/ type of person ! - Peter Dawson
He is a teacher. Their apartment is on the 9th floor of an 11 story building and Yellowknife has 19-20 thousand people so it is not all wilderness. But he/she are wild life/camping/canoeing enthusiasts so they are looking forward to living there. The cold winter and 20 hour days/nights I think would turn me off though. - Brian Sullivan

Senators target Bitcoin currency, citing drug sales | The Digital Home - CNET News - http://news.cnet.com/8301-13...
"Bitcoin, a peer-to-peer currency floating around the Web, is now being targeted by two prominent senators. Democratic Senators Charles Schumer of New York and Joe Manchin of West Virginia have written a letter to both Attorney General Eric Holder and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) chief Michele Leonhart expressing their desire for the organizations to take down an online marketplace known as "Silk Road," which allows customers to buy illegal drugs, including cocaine, heroin, ecstasy, and marijuana" - Brian Sullivan
You have to wonder if this is really a drug issue or if the disruptive nature of the technology/idea is being targeted because is a threat to banking/economy status quo. - Brian Sullivan
Police nab contortionist who allegedly hid in suitcase to steal from luggage - The Globe and Mail - http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news...

The man arrested last week was 5'10” tall and very thin, a police official in the northeastern Catalonia region said. An accomplice was also arrested." - Brian Sullivan

Auditor blasts lack of transparency in doling out generous G8 funds - The Globe and Mail - http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news...
"The controversial program was 10 times more generous than similar initiatives tied to previous summits of world leaders in Alberta and Quebec. While $50-million in federal funds were disbursed in Mr. Clement’s riding and surrounding areas, there was not a single civil servant involved in approving the 32 projects. As such, normal rules applying to such federal spending, designed to guarantee transparency and accountability, were not followed." - Brian Sullivan

We had dime sized hail and heavy winds for about 20 minutes last night as the front passed through. - Brian Sullivan
No only that but there are dump trucks and jack hammers doing some sort of water work on a neighbour's house, two other neighbours doing renovations, the gas company is doing a major upgrade to gas service and has trucks everywhere, and today is trash pick up day so their trucks are up and down the street. I guess we can be thankful it is not a hurricane, flood, tornado or quake clean up though. - Brian Sullivan

"Sebastien Buemi ran over a spectator during a Red Bull demonstration event in Japan which was being held to raise money for tsunami victims. Buemi was carrying out his usual routine when a spectator decided to take a short-cut across the track from behind a bridge. Unfortunately, he ran straight in front of the Red Bull, but a last-second jump as the car hit him probably saved him from serious injury. Fortunately, neither Buemi or the spectator were injured." - Brian Sullivan

""Here we have a man who has no criminal record, who made every possible effort to comply with U.S. immigration laws and procedures, but who dared to take on a multinational giant, rewarded with criminal charges that have been so grotesquely inflated as to make the average well-informed member of the public blanch at the audacity of it all," Sandford said, quoting from her notes on the judge's speech. "Do not sleep with your cellphone pasted to your ear. Do not use it in poor reception zones.
