One of those FB newish things rolled through my feed the other day. It was a birth announcement / retraction. A family whose child was born a had informed the he was a boy and they had a retraction / reintroduction printed. It was cute and the kind of thing you hope is real but the thing that caught my attention was the use of the word sprogget
as in 'our little sprogget'. It wasn't a word I'd heard of so I did a quick online search expecting it to come back as an endearment for child. I also expected it to belong to a particular nationality or region and not be terribly widespread in its use. The first hit was from webanswers.com and the person looking for the meaning of the word said that it had become a nickname for her grandson even before he was born and she wondered what it meant. The very first reply was that the parents must have been watching the Jetson's ... you know Spacely Sproggits .........I had to stop looking
