$10B a year. Gee I could produce the new Google with that type of money
- Moe Glitz
Little from MSR makes it into Products (shamefully little)
- clive boulton
Even under Gates they would play around with the future. But nothing came out of this
- Moe Glitz
because Products fight off MSR all the time
- Kevin Marks

All those parts are greater as a whole than parts for MSFT's integrated power.
- manielse (Mark Nielsen)
Phones and hardware bridge consumer and enterprise divisions.
- manielse (Mark Nielsen)
Robert Scoble for Microsoft CEO!
- Tina Chase Gillmor
I think Vic G would enjoy it
- Kevin Marks
It is a great opportunity to end the era of a single monolithic Microsoft.
- clive boulton
Agreed Tina
- Moe Glitz
Vic G gonna get a call for sure
- clive boulton
my iPhone got stolen within a week of getting it
- Kevin Marks
one advantage of a cracked screen is it's less stealable
- Kevin Marks
Apple could have bricked a long time ago. Pisses me off that they didnt earlier

The services will win in the future.
- Moe Glitz

- Kevin Marks
did the stream go down for a sec?
- Tina Chase Gillmor

Right now. Apple is The Beatles. Google is The Stones and Microsoft are The Monkees
- Moe Glitz

- Kevin Marks
Google was a baby when Gates was in Court
- Moe Glitz
So, does Google need to split up?
- manielse (Mark Nielsen)
Microsoft discussion grows tiresome
- Dale Lature
Mark: Google is focusing. Look at how many things it dumped over past two years.
- Robert Scoble
Dale: agreed. No one really cares outside of insiders like us.
- Robert Scoble
And even I'm bored.
- Robert Scoble
Apple runs on an open source OS core (FreeBSD) and created the dominant open source browser (Webkit)
- Kevin Marks
Small module development. NPM has taken over .NET
- clive boulton
Lol. Let's Lets get to AJAM if that's why Doc is here
- Dale Lature
Back in 2000. Microsoft thought they owned the web. They had Hotmail. Messenger & MSN Portal. Game Over. They never saw Search, Social or Mobile
- Moe Glitz
Apple managed to commoditize software faster than MSFT commoditized hardware
- Kevin Marks
Moe, they had IE, more importantly
- Kevin Marks
AjAM is what has my buttons pushed lately
- Dale Lature
second f*ck of the show
- Tina Chase Gillmor
True Kevin. Forgot that one. But where is IE now
- Moe Glitz
Scoble is gonna blow on this show
- Tina Chase Gillmor

- Kevin Marks
Microsoft Play, Microsoft Enterprise, Microsoft...
- Tina Chase Gillmor
they built millions of Surfacces
- Kevin Marks
And so we continue
- Dale Lature
Dale: hang on.
- Robert Scoble

If they were relevant, it would be huge news.
- Moe Glitz
I haven't used Microsoft software since Apple stopped paying me to.
- Kevin Marks
Ballmer's quitting is two year pause button.
- clive boulton
It's huge for Microsoft, the rest of us just wait to see if it is huge to us.
- manielse (Mark Nielsen)
yeah, I don't use use Office anymore either
- Tina Chase Gillmor
It could be bad for their rivals, if the new CEO is smart
- Moe Glitz
It's GATHERING DUST ON THE SHELVES
- Moe Glitz
Zzzzzzzzz
- Dale Lature
oye,,, I forgot Gray the studio cat is in today and now on my desk
- Tina Chase Gillmor
Think Steve is a private Microsoft Fan Boy. Or a Monkees Fan

- Kevin Marks
True Kevin
- Moe Glitz
closet MS lover?
- Tina Chase Gillmor
Move on Steve!
- Dale Lature
Dale: I tried. I'm still gonna try.
- Robert Scoble
Dale: I think I'll go get some more coffee and see if they are still talking about Ballmer when I come back. :-)
- Robert Scoble
ROBERT: I heard you do so
- Dale Lature
Surface RT was just too confusing and limiting for consumers, period. However my Acer W8 does very well for my needs of a full Windows Tablet using full apps when I need it. Replaces my need of a full laptop when away from the desk (with Nexus 7 and S3 for most other times).
- manielse (Mark Nielsen)
All I hear is that Microsoft is really screwed because it won't split up.
- Robert Scoble
And if it does split up it's screwed anyway.
- Robert Scoble
Heh.
- Robert Scoble
Please, Steve? No more MS!!!!!
- Dale Lature
Dale: now we're onto Apple. Heh.

- Tina Chase Gillmor
Or, earlier: http://mediagora.blogspot.com/2002_09...

With a name like Al Jazeera, I don't think many Americans will trust them
- Moe Glitz
OK Doc cant hear us now... great
- Tina Chase Gillmor
I thought they got popular BECAUSe of their online element
- Dale Lature
Dale: they did.
- Robert Scoble
Should have just kept it as Current.tv brand
- manielse (Mark Nielsen)
Mark: agreed.
- Robert Scoble

- clive boulton
Current had similar problems. High tier
- Dale Lature

- Tony Stanislawski
Prism abuse deeply affected some Googlers
- clive boulton
Exactly Robert!
- Tony Stanislawski
Just froze. Anyone else?
- Dale Lature
Sorry. My chromecast host computer went to sleep
- Dale Lature
It is really the hiding of transparency that really bothers me more than the surveillance itself. The bad guys know these things are happening well before the citizens know.
- manielse (Mark Nielsen)
Kevin is right on this one
- Tony Stanislawski
Kevin is right in a perfect world. But the Boston Bombers and Reddit proved that the public has no clue what to look for.
- Robert Scoble
Was the Lovelace Movie showing?
- Moe Glitz
We as Americans need to accept the risk of living in a real world. If you do not want to take any risk stay in a room alone, never drive a car, etc.
- Tony Stanislawski
All of you have a much higher chance of dying today driving a car than anything else you do...and in the long run one of you will die of cancer the other of heart disease
- Tony Stanislawski
glad that they don't shoot someone by mistake
- Kevin Marks
kinda scary for a few minutes there
- Tina Chase Gillmor
Underpaid public servants who get slammed and demonized by politicians...etc
- Tony Stanislawski
Exactly, Steve and Kevin
- Dale Lature
Basically I trust the geeks like snowden then the uninformed politicians...
- Tony Stanislawski
trust more I meant
- Tony Stanislawski
but many of the geeks are in the security services too
- Kevin Marks
Chilling part indeed is muzzling talking about
- clive boulton
I am talking about the oversight of Congress
- Tony Stanislawski
Right. Snowden made aware while we still act to protect in a logical fashion
- Dale Lature
We?
- Moe Glitz
doc. stop shuffling papers
- Kevin Marks
Kevin!
- Moe Glitz
Yep and once it is in place it will never go back
- Tony Stanislawski
It is not going to be anymore going forward until as a nation we accept the risk like the Israelis do.
- Tony Stanislawski
Amen Doc!
- Tony Stanislawski
Israelis do more surveillance than anyone else.
- Robert Scoble
But they live their daily lives not in fear of the possible missile headed their way.
- Tony Stanislawski
gaze detection is in the last android. not thta useful
- Kevin Marks
yes... i would like my usual coffee
- Tina Chase Gillmor
This was great. Thanks guys
- Dale Lature
Have Ballmer go run the NSA, at least I would trust him more to understand the tech
- Tony Stanislawski
what! is someone going to come in and smash my shit with a hammer?
- Tina Chase Gillmor
no, they will tell you to smash it and send someone to watch you do it
- Kevin Marks
Amnesty not happy: http://www.theguardian.com/media...

- clive boulton
Gah - caught the thank yous only! Sekrit show.
- Laura Norvig
Good show, got me fired up...Robert, I agree with you on so much except this NSA stuff
- Tony Stanislawski
Tony: not true. They live their lives DESPITE the fear. (A surgeon showed me a photo of four missles in the air less than a mile away while he was working in the hospital. They now work underground).
- Robert Scoble
"There's no chance that the iPhone is going to get any significant market share. No chance." Ballmer USA TODAY on 04-30-2007
- manielse (Mark Nielsen)
My wife's home, in Tehran, was bombed. Luckily she wasn't home. But she told me they had the best parties up on the hills every night while being bombed. Why? Because fear of being killed makes you enjoy life more. "If you're gonna die tonight, let's have one hell of a party."
- Robert Scoble
Yes steve. You guys did fine I could talk all day on the AJ thing obviously
- Dale Lature
Tony: the NSA stuff is really complex. There are definitely two sides. I could argue both sides. My great grandfather was arrested because he spoke against the Nazi's in Germany. My wife's friends have been whipped because they were caught with a girl (true story). Governments often abuse their citizens and that's VERY scary to me.
- Robert Scoble
thanks to everyone. Let's carry on the conversation on the FB page
- Tina Chase Gillmor
Tina: http://facebook.com/gillmor... ?
- Robert Scoble
I agree Robert!
- Tony Stanislawski
thanks Robert
- Tina Chase Gillmor
Mark: I heard Ballmer say shit like that. it always infuriated me.
- Robert Scoble
Same here. And why this is good for Microsoft. Need a futurist but also a realist...
- manielse (Mark Nielsen)
Is the video up yet?
- Daniel W. Crompton
not yet
- Tina Chase Gillmor
it's up now!
- Tina Chase Gillmor
It's amazing how keeping us safe translates into power and money and privilege for those who do the keeping. Notice how they don't want to keep us in health care or education or minimum wage or anything else that could be considered keeping us safe.
- Todd Hoff
nice post . . . . http://www.badcreditloansonbenefits.co.uk/
- Mark Donnan
