My phone number has ported and I now have an active Epic. Unfortunately the data service hasn't been actived yet, and an Epic without data is a big shiney pseudo brick that takes pictures.
Update: it's all taken care of now. Apparently I do in fact know how to properly activate a phone (data and all), but did so too quickly after the phone activated. WTH...
