I think Google TV's biggest mistake was not engaging Old Media by demonstrating the value of Google TV's open Android apps to discovery and viewer tracking of their content. typical of Google's geek discomfiture with social engagement. They similarly failed when rolling out Google Books.

Robert: I don't look at Google's a-social behavior as arrogance, more like a consequence of a collective lifetime of social disengagement with a touch of Aspergers spectrum. It is just too bad Google has yet to hire a passel of socially engaged technoids to enhance the company's interactions with the real world. Facebook has similarly suferd.

r Macdonald: nah, it's arrogance. My view is biased by dealing with lots of Google'rs over the years and seeing how they deal with partners (I was in front row when they launched Nexus One, for instance). There isn't much listening or "work together" kind of behavior. Just a lot of pushing.
