I keep seeing ads where Romney talks about his record of balancing the budget as governor of MA. I think he should campaign on the rest of his accomplishments: "While I was governor, Massachusetts got universal healthcare and same-sex marriage!"
Republicans would vote for him because he's not Obama, while Democrats would vote for him because he supports gay marriage and universal healthcare. How could he lose? - Gabe
Because the far right voters would not vote for him -- they'd not vote at all. - Stephen Mack
It's more important to get voters to the polls so they will vote for Congress. - Heather
He could also brag about his record on abortion (from his 2002 campaign): "As Governor, Mitt Romney would protect the current pro-choice status quo in Massachusetts. No law would change. The choice to have an abortion is a deeply personal one. Women should be free to choose based on their own beliefs, not the government's." - Gabe
I think Romney should fear for his life, should he be elected with Ryan as his vice president. - Clare Dibble
And according to http://www.malegislature.gov/Budget, "Under Massachusetts law, the budget - or General Appropriations Act - must be balanced." So balancing the budget is more a requirement of law than a real accomplishment. Why campaign on something so lame when you have something as awesome as "My state became the first to have both same-sex marriage AND universal healthcare"? - Gabe
