MSFT, Google, Adobe (The Creative Cloud), Amazon and others see the cloud as an opportunity to borrow the iTunes model for all kinds of data. They'll create captive users like Apple did with music. This will allow these big companies to potentially develop their own ecosystems, making it easy (and seemingly safer) to share files between devices.
