Although I wouldn't bet the farm on it, I'm pretty sure that information discovered that way would be inadmissible, and Intuit would be held criminally liable. "IRC Section 7216 makes it a misdemeanor for any tax return preparer to release any tax information obtained or generated in the course of a preparer-client relationship, unless the preparer has express client consent, or a court order has been issued. Violation of this rule is subject to a fine or imprisonment or both." (c.f. http://www.irs.gov/efile...)

On the other hand, Intuint makes great effort in the TOC to say that they are not giving any kind of tax advice.
