Hm..so I was thinking. Code that's working doesn't just break. There's a bunch of stuff that's broken on FriendFeed lately. This suggests that previously working code has been replaced with broken code. Usually when someone is done developing code, they do not replace working code with broken code. Think about that FriendFeeders ;)
Yeah, that's what I've been suggesting as well - when things break, it usually means the developer is working on something else related to that code. - Jesse Stay
Or it's broken code and they were just very good at fixing the issues quickly :P - Johnny
Johnny, there's stuff freshly broken this week and last week that's been working fine for months. This usually means someone is mucking about with the code, breaking it, usually in the hopes of making it cooler. I have not yet seen the FriendFeed team break stuff to make it crappier. There are other companies for that. I think that someone is trying to make something at FriendFeed cooler. - guruvan (Rob Nelson)
Proper software developers use a sandbox and/or CVS system before live changes. System breakdowns on functioning code could be products also of underlying hardware changes. Moving to cloud based storage for instance, server platform changes (ie, upgrading PHP), amongst others. - Mo Kargas
Plus when they went to Facebook's servers, they had to rewrite some stuff... - Johnny
The chrysalis is emerging... F8 is in 2 weeks - just watch. :-) - Jesse Stay
Anyone notice how quiet Paul has been lately? - Jesse Stay
I'll have some of the tea leaves they're having. :) - Micah
oh, and BTW, people don't move dead products onto new servers. - guruvan (Rob Nelson)
Or, it's a difference in server configuration. That can break code all over the place. - COMPLICATED MR. NOODLE

"What if Facebook caught wind Google was working on Buzz and bought FriendFeed *in response* to that rumor?" :) - guruvan (Rob Nelson)
i know someone tipped off brett to buzz at least by the week prior to the release - it's conceivable that many others knew and knew for much longer - thing about that - Chris Heath
Nice post, Jesse. I've not given up on it yet either (obviously, since I'm still here). I just hope that the big thing includes a FF 3.0 that doesn't require that my account be connected to FB in any way. - Jim #teamFFrank
Jim, i think what jesse is saying is that FB will evolve into FF3.0 (how that will affect FF as it is now is unknown) - Chris Heath
Chris, I'm not saying I know how the butterfly will emerge. It could emerge in the form of FriendFeed, or in the form of Facebook, or perhaps a hybrid of the two. We just know, according to Paul's previous comments, that something will happen. The question is what and when. - Jesse Stay
gotcha - i'm hoping it will emerge something like this http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped... - Chris Heath

Interesting Jesse, but what about Wave? ;-) - Chris Heath
