"These little hand pies are filled with a really nice fall apple-sausage-mushroom and (of course) butternut squash and sage center. The crust is super flaky and made with butter, leaf lard, and sharp cheddar. I got the idea for these pies after tasting a really delicious sage and sausage apple pie at the Enid’s Apple Pie Bake-Off. I love me some savory and I love me some pie. I was inspired by the cute lil shape of these savory hand pies and I figured I’d get to baking!"

Um, I need to make these.

They sound very autumnal. They have autumn in Washington, no?
- Derrick
Yep. In the range for all seasons.

It's that time of year where I'm still enjoying summer but looking forward to fall. Starting to collect fall recipes too :)

I wonder if you can freeze them after you bake them and then reheat them. These would be good in a lunch, maybe?
- Derrick
I should think so, if the ingredients are ok with being frozen. And yes, they'd make a great lunch, with a nice salad :)

Sounds good.

It would be better to freeze before baking or partially baked and then thaw/heat in a (toaster)oven Yum. What's also good is a butternut squash filling for ravioli with a sage brown butter sauce

I'm trying to think about what might be the best way to take them to work. Not sure of the facilities there, though I imagine there's a microwave. Hrm.

Oh. Oh. Oh.
