this is my second time having frozen shoulder and it's way worse because it's my right arm. I keep doing things like reaching into the fridge for the water jug, or using my right hand to flip a light switch, and burst out screaming in pain because it hurts so bad.
and it doesn't effing stop hurting. it's either a dull ache, a throbbing, or when I extend it, a sharp intense pain that spreads from my upper arm into my elbow and forearm. I have too much to do to be derailed by this shit :(((((((( - Starmama
Dang, that sounds rough. How long does a frozen shoulder last? - Marie
Last time was 18 months. - Starmama
Wait, what? You're in pain like this for 18 MONTHS? - Marie
the intense pain, last time, lasted for about 6 months. it starts out intermittent pain, mostly when you move the arm. then the pain intensifies, and you lose mobility, and gradually it gets better. but, as I have learned, there's a chance of recurrence. I've talked to people who've gotten it four times in five years! - Starmama
oh, mama, i'm sorry. *pats you gently* - Marie
My chiropractor (a good non-quack chiro) volunteered her services to The Suitcase Clinic. See if they've got someone there who can help you with deep tissue massage or something else that'll work it out: http://www.suitcaseclinic.org/ Sorry you're going through that. I know that shit sucks hard. - Spidra Webster
My first ever real massage was from a volunteer with the Suitcase Clinic! Great suggestion, thanks. - Starmama
Does physical therapy help at all? It's a really sucky condition to have because there's nothing they can do about it. - Todd Hoff
PT helps keep or regain some mobility, but doesn't help with pain. In fact, I've heard that the PT with frozen shoulder is excruciating. - Starmama
The pain is awful. With my right shoulder, the pain from the mobility exercises feel like icicle swords shooting from my shoulder to the rest of my body, especially my head. You sound like you have a much worse case than I do, though. I already go through this for 5 - 15 mos. at a time with 3 - 8 mos. of peace in between. - Anika
They aren't sure why, but diabetics are at higher risk for getting it. There's even a chapter about it in my Diabetes Handbook. And it's often a much more painful experience for diabetics. More chance of recurrence, too. Just my luck huh. - Starmama
Right there in that book, it says froze shoulder can cause confusion and depression and sleep deprivation, all due to the overwhelming pain. I should carry the book around to show people who act like they think I'm exaggerating. - Starmama
wife has that now and with a 6 month old it's not fun. She is doing PT but can't take the recommended steroids due to breastfeeding. Have you tried the steroid method in the past? It ain't a miracle cure as there isn't one i'm afraid. :( - Steve C, Team Marina
It's probably what we'll decide. Dr appt next week. - Starmama
