"The Nevada Assembly voted to approve a bill that bans motorists from cell phone use and texting while driving. Lawmakers in Carson City approved the bill yesterday in a 24 - 17 vote without any debate. Hands - free cell phone devices that permit motorists to keep both hands on the wheel are still allowed within the bill's guidelines."

"Upon final Senate approval, the law would be enacted on July 1, 2011. Law enforcement officers , however, are only permitted to give warnings throughout the remainder of the year.
In 2012, violators would be cited for a misdemeanor and fined $50 on first offenses, $100 on second offenses, and $250 for the third and subsequent infractions. Driver's licenses could be suspended on the third or subsequent violations."

Six months to get a headset!
- That's So CAJ!
My sister refused to stop using the phone to text while driving yesterday so I just bailed on the nearest corner and started walking. No phone call or text is so important you can't pull over.

A similar law was enacted in WA a year or so ago. I hope it goes nationwide.

The one fender-bender I've had (minor and in a parking lot) happened while was looking at a text I received.

Good!

It's a law here in IL. You still see it happening though but not as much as before.

California could get pretty close to meeting its budget deficit if it started aggressively enforcing the law here.

CAJ, it's the texting that's going to cramp my style. I already have a head set for my phone.

CAJ, only at red lights! (And on long highway stretches. >_>)

NJ has a similar ban, but it doesn't seem to have cut down much on cell phone use.

John: I stopped using my cell phone as much on the road as I had been.
