It's no wonder they don't trust us - http://sethgodin.typepad.com/seths_b...
So true. We need fantastic user experiences out of the box. Apple's done a good job here. Here's to others doing the same. I have one in mind ;-) - Andrew Bowers

No kidding. I'm truly amazed that no PC vendor seems to have latched onto this as an opportunity -- our PC just works out of the box, has sensible defaults for everything, and doesn't offer you lots of marketing and shovelware. Amazing. - Joel Webber

A few great concepts: 1) Scroll, not page; 2) Idea of content completion. The second is one of the reasons I still like physical form over online content. I never feel like I can finish online and for some reason it is extremely unsatisfying. - Andrew Bowers
We consume what we see: Package and container sizes influence our intake - http://www.core77.com/blog...
This is much like McDonalds getting around the "dilemma of the fixed stomach" by adding larger sizes, so people don't feel as gluttonous. The whole concept of marketing to people's ingrained behavioral flaws to make them consume more than they need just smells foul to me. - Joel Webber

Being foreign: The others | The Economist - http://www.economist.com/world...
"The dilemma of foreignness comes down to one of liberty versus fraternity—the pleasures of freedom versus the pleasures of belonging. The homebody chooses the pleasures of belonging. The foreigner chooses the pleasures of freedom, and the pains that go with them." - Andrew Bowers

Show me customer oriented, well designed online banking and credit card companies and I'll sign up. I'm tired of being logged out after 5 minutes, being presented with silly offers every time I log in, and poor interfaces that are more about marketing than they are about the service.

Ticketmaster is still a rip off. Many tickets I've just decided not to buy on principle. Today they wanted an additional $10 for a $50 ticket. 20% of the value? Seriously?
TicketBastard, I always say. Remember PearlJam going before congress back in the 90s? Looks like that failed. - Joel Webber
Pearl Jam has done a great job selling tickets through their website. That said, I doubt they could have sold out 5 nights straight in Philly without Ticketmaster. Sigh. - Chris Ramsdale
Sabrina's iPhone game finally made it into the app store. Fun word game (like Taboo) to play with family over holidays. http://itunes.apple.com/WebObje...
How long was the total wait for approval? - Joel Webber
When we first submitted, it took 2.5 weeks to be rejected. Then it took 2 weeks of us calling them every day (and leaving messages) before we finally got someone to pick up the phone and tell us what was wrong. It was an easy-to-fix error. So we fixed it, and submitted the same day. It took another 2.5 weeks to get approved. - Sabrina Ko
Been sitting on Tarmac at sfo for 25 min waiting for gate to open up. Tough wait after midnight. So close yet so far away.
Was it that long? I didn't even know you were on your phone. It goes by faster if you fall asleep...again. - Sabrina Ko
Fun to see something you started continued on by passionate people. It was a little over 3 years ago when I first pitched a crazy idea called Google Developer Day, which grew into Google I/O and GDDs. http://www.youtube.com/watch...
The iPhone needs a Star Wars Bar. http://www.youtube.com/watch... Keep the curated, pristine app store, but open up a consumer bazaar as well. Full of anything people want to create. Kind of like a Star Wars Bar of apps. Lots of crazy, ugly things in there - but who knows, you may find something to get you off of Tatooine.
A wretched hive of scum and villany? :) - Matt M (inactive)
Sabrina's game for the iPhone was rejected two weeks ago. She's called every day, sent emails, - no explanation. Its a simple word game. Sad
This is why I've yet to upgrade my iPhone. Love the device design but want access to unfettered innovation. I'm waiting. - Andrew Bowers
@Ray - Agreed. The app that her company just finished was also rejected. The whole thing seems arbitrary and poorly run. - Andrew Bowers
The Eclipse 3.5 installation and add-on user flow is a usability anti-pattern. I'm sure someone said "oh, they're developers. They'll figure it out."
The really sad thing is that they seem to have put a lot of work into making it suck more than in previous versions. Which is no mean feat. - Joel Webber
