You should be able to add yourself to any friend list. You can find yourself by typing in "You" in the box for filtering by name. - Dan Hsiao

fwed, although it's labeled "You", it should appear in the list of all subscriptions alphabetized by your name. You're looking in the box that appears when you select "Add/remove friends" in the header bar for a friend list, right? - Dan Hsiao
