I'm mostly *meh* about shellfish, so I've taught myself to make a damn good chicken gumbo. But I've never made it with frozen chopped okra, which is what I happen to have. Should I do it?

I usually use okra grown in friends' yards :-)

I would. I've defrosted other frozen veggies in the microwave to add to recipes.

Why am I not growing okra? It's been years ago, but it grows like crazy here...even when drought gets everything else.

I use frozen veggies almost always. Okra just seems to need a delicate touch so I wonder :-)

Folx always forget about okra, lol. Some people hate it. I'd grow it if I had a vegetable garden.

The bonus side of growing it is that it has beautiful flowers so it's lovely in the garden.

I've used frozen in gumbo and it was fine. Not quite the same as fresh, but it worked.
