So relieved and glad that Obama got elected, but super bummed about Prop 8. I wish my vote could count for more than one vote. :-)

Emily - And what an election to start with, eh? I'm dramatically torn in emotions. Totally enthused from Obama, totally bummed from prop 8... but atleast some legitimate sounding lawsuits are being filed that may declare 8 was a revision, not an amendment, and tehrefor not subject to popular vote without 2/3 legislative approval.

I am still confused why we allow constitutional amendments with 50% approval from a proposition. Doesn't make sense to me

@Bret: I don't get that either. It's harder to pass a sales tax in San Jose than an amendment.

I agree, I would think a proposition would need at least a SIGNIFICANT majority. Is winning 51% to 49% really winning? What if that difference was due to error?
