A guy on my feed referred to the three murdered Muslim students as "similar to our coons, always wanting to be the underdog". Then tried to make murder a rational outcome of a parking dispute. We've got plenty of racists in Aus. It's good they come out the woodwork for me to remove.

Personally, I think Muslims are in extreme danger right now, everywhere. I don't particularly like to be alarmist, but some of my friends in the US are looking at leaving before in their words "we're shot or burned out". I'd like to say they could come here, but there certainly isn't any guarantee they'll not be looked down upon, shunned, or attacked in the coming years. The media and Hollywood continues to turn us into subhuman creatures, and nothing we say or do dispels it, and now private citizens can execute without any outcry.

Do people say this shit knowing you are reading/hearing it and knowing you are Muslim? Do they do that "Oh, but I don't mean you" thing? I get that as a Christian sometimes. The difference being people aren't wanting me to "go back to where you came from" or shooting me or yelling abuse at me in the street or accusing me of trying to take over the world, of course.

They know very well. Some have known me for decades and it doesn't make a difference. Lost more friends in the last few years than I can count. I've heard "friends" casually express genocide for the lot of us "ragheads" as something agreeable to them. Hell, I even heard this line of discussion at my sisters wedding last year from the groom's family - I accept that was after a few drinks - but heartbreaking to hear. Of late, I'm learning it's nicely ingrained in society, and I'm beginning to think that a lot of us will become targets in the next decade.
