Four and a half years ago, Gmail was ahead of its time, but now its just... wait, it's still ahead of its time. What gives? Four and half years? That's an eternity in internet time. Why hasn't the web caught up? Is Internet evolution finally slowing down to normal speed?
These are the thoughts I had in my shower before my hot water finally ran out. All of my decent thinking happens in the shower :)

What else do you wish was more like gmail?

Gmail has value simply because it's so much easier to use than Outlook, plus it's better than Yahoo Mail and Hotmail.

And it's still in beta.

ⓞnor - everything I guess. I wish things just worked how I wanted them to work. I wish I could organize things how I wanted to organize things, items would update without me having to reload the page... For example news sites - I have very little control over them, they still feel like newspapers instead of my news warehouse that I can manipulate (which feed readers are better at doing I admit). Scottrade is archaic (why can't I graph things how I want to graph them, and show what I want to show), Banks..

I dunno - just feels like we were trending towards greatness in terms of really intelligent web apps, and then sort of not much else happened (except for FF of course) ;-)

I'd be brilliant if I took day-long showers.

I've been meaning to get one of those waterproof writing boards scuba divers use; I read about that somewhere as a tip for people who want to write down their great shower ideas. ... sorry for the threadjack.
