"Newsmakers and analysts alike are trying to explain just what this new era should be called. Is there one device or one company or one shared experience that defines us?
With some quick research, it's clear there are many players vying for the elite status of owning our tech-savvy era. I tapped into Google (disclosure: I work there) for a few examples."

I set up a new PC yesterday. After using Windows 8 firsthand finally, I'd agree that the Microsoft era is over. I think we're in an era of smudgy screens.

You missed "The Internet Era" which has 169,000,000 hits. If you're looking to define the current generation by one thing, that is it. Considering the boom in consumer use didn't occur until the late-90's and early-2000's. Even at the earliest, as we know it, you'd go back to Mosaic in 1993.

You are right, Jimminy! Add that to the post.

"The smudgy screen era"... I await the post from Stephen on this!

Louis just made me post to Google+ for the first time in a year or so. Must work in marketing.

Louis -- I can't take credit for the "era of smudgy computing" bit, that's the creation of John Scalzi: http://whatever.scalzi.com/2012... (at least, that's where I first read it).

That's a bit of a scary realization. The consumer web as we know it is only 4 years younger than I am.

The Walled Garden Era for sure.

Jimminy, I do not work on Google+ and I do not work in Marketing, sir.

A great article, Louis.

I got a hit on this one; "Emerging Trends in Wireless in the Era of the Internet of Things". Say that 10 times fast.
