According to stats, the FF backup and render apps have been downloaded over 600 times. 85% Windows version, 15% OS X.
I could get that OS X number up if I could make it work on Snow Leopard. I'm trying to figure out if I can upgrade without breaking some of my expensive boughten software. - Spidra Webster

I mean the comments that I've made on other people's posts. Claudio's thing gave that as an option but I was told it tended to choke on that. - bentley
I successfully exported and converted 61 pages running on OS X 10.9, but the target directory does not show up in Finder. :-( - Nils Sandin
Nils, sometimes it doesn't complete ot can't create the files on a particular system. Did you try running again? Also, if you want I can run it for you a give a zip of your backup to download. - Micah
The target directory is inside of the app, so you can't see it with Finder (was my problem at least, before I figured out how to look inside the app). - Meg VMeg

HOW TO MANUALLY FIND YOU DATA DIRECTORY: Ctrl-Click the ffexp.app icon > Show Package Contents > then drill down through directories: Contents > MacOS > www. In www you should have ff_stream_<your username>.json — this is your raw data. Also: html_output folder has all your HTML files if you converted the data with the app. The ff_media folder has all the images and attachment files. - Micah

Hey Micah, thanks again for your this app. Do you have any thoughts on why Melly's feed backup would just abort at 102 pages (mellissad)? When you get a chance would it be to much of an ask to see if you encounter the same issue? I'm running the windows version. My backup worked fine, but I don't have nearly as many posts as Melly does. Total exported HTML pages at 30 posts per page results thus far in 325 HTML pages. This makes me think that it's possibly the 10k post API limit? Thoughts? - Benny Bucko (Josh)

You all, can you tell me how long the backup procedure for your accounts took? I am just curious. Mine has been running for nearly 24 hours up to now, and still doesn't stop. Could that be normal, or is the process repeating itself? - Maitani
That sounds much longer than it should take. But you're seeing the progress statuses continue to change ( "Page (N)" ... and "retrieving image blahblahblag" - Micah

@Maitani The terminal window (at least in Windows 8.1) appears to keep printing new text which looks like it's still doing stuff even after the local webserver's page in your browser advises the backup and convert has completed. My advice would be to go off what the browser says, rather than what you see in the terminal window. You can verify if the backup worked by looking at the last converted html page. It will should go back to either your first ever post, or to a maximum of 10k posts if you have more than that. If, for instance, you ran a backup to export 30 posts per html page, and it made 333 html page then stops it's hit the 10k API limit. Micah confirms above that you can cherry pick favourite posts by bumping them with comments then running the export again. Hope this helps. - Benny Bucko (Josh)

I downloaded the content including photos and attached files in ff media and also downloded 29 pages in html folder, however when I click on html files it does not load the ff style and has its own simple style. Besides, I cannot find my direct messages anywhere. the program is still downloading and running in does screen but nothing happening in the path directory. the last message is "Done Convert. Scroll down to see more. HTML output files are now in directory:" which is for about 4 hrs ago. there are another similar messeges before that. I was running the program last night and my laptop would have gone on sleep mode for several hours, however I have turned it back today about 4:20 hrs ago and the program started to work. is there anything wrong with what I have done? should I wait or I need to stop the black window and run it again? - هانا
@هانا: Yes, it finished. It only gets your main feed (not DMs) — sorry. There's no harm to re-run it (closing app window will close black window with it) – it will go much faster because it only looks for content it hasn't already downloaded. - Micah
