There's more in a blog post linked in that article: http://heejennwei.blogspot.co.uk/2013...

I think I read the linked post a while ago - I've seen a lot of those sorts of photographs over the last year or so, and many of them just seem too twee.
- Jennifer Dittrich
twee indeed. couldn't they just use photoshop?

Nice link John (the heejennwei one)! At least the threads is a good idea for one or two photos, it's the repetitive captures which are abusive.

There's the issue of abuse (like the one frog that had bruises on its legs), and then there's also an issue of journalistic integrity. I don't have a problem with staged or posed photos as long as the animals are treated humanely and as long as the photographer and publication are honest about what they're doing. In a lot of cases mentioned at those links, the photos are represented as if they're a natural behavior when they're really not.

Yeah, the storylines were way too sloppy and fake ("waited hours to get such results"). I must admit this causes their cases to be taken into negative considerations by all sides, only point being that they succeeded in doing them before there was any possible repercussions envisioned by 'the system'. I'm with you 100%: if there was any explanation given for a capture, these details should be part of the 'making of' instead of being debunked by such a website. Kills the photographer's chances for respect.
